Discover Crévoux through a range of different experiences: interpretive loops lead to a mill, architecture and the history of the valley, while hikes from La Chalp take in a waterfall and a high-altitude lake. In winter, cross-country skiing, biathlon, snowshoeing and sledging are also on offer. Plan your days around whether you are more interested in local history, a hike or activities in the snow.

Themed trails between the village and La Chalp

The 3.5 km Boucle de Praveyral interpretive loop starts in the village square and leads to the communal mill. An information panel along the trail covers the traditional architecture of houses in the valley. The Boucle de La Chalp is 4.5 km long; its panels focus on the development of the Crévoux valley, life in the past and work in the fields. The two loops therefore offer different thematic highlights: the architecture of the valley on one, its development and former rural life on the other.

The Parcours des Fées is an easy loop from La Chalp. It leads to an old shepherd's hut that has been restored as an artistic space, and to a waterfall; works of art can be seen along the trail. This route combines art and landscape, alongside the historical themes of the other interpretive loops. Trail conditions can change, so check the route before setting out.

Hiking to suit your ability and altitude

A family-friendly hike leads from near the hamlet of La Chalp to Cascade de Razis. It is 7 km long and takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Lac du Crachet lies at an altitude of 2,238 m in the Crévoux valley; from La Chalp, it can be reached via a challenging hike of about two hours. The stated durations are similar, but the hikes differ in difficulty: the route to Cascade de Razis is considered suitable for families, while the trail to Lac du Crachet is challenging.

The Bajoulan hike starts and ends in Crévoux and offers views of the surrounding valleys. How far you can see depends on the weather. It complements the trails from La Chalp with a hike that starts and finishes in Crévoux.

Parpaillon and winter activities

The ascent to Parpaillon from Crévoux is possible by gravel bike, mountain bike, on foot or by electric bike. The Parpaillon track leads from Crévoux to an altitude of over 2,600 m and a tunnel excavated by military engineers in the late 19th century. Access conditions can vary, so check them before setting out.

The Nordic ski area in La Chalp offers cross-country skiing, biathlon, snowshoeing and sledging. Seasonal operating details can change, so it is advisable to check them before your visit. Alongside the themed trails and hikes, these activities offer a different focus for a winter stay than a trip centred on the history of the valley or hikes to the waterfall and lake.

Village life and culture

The Musée rural traces life in the valley in the past. Opening arrangements can vary, so check them before your visit. The communal village bread oven also continues to bring tourists and locals together, thanks to the Amis du Pain association, which is active year-round; event dates may vary.

In summer, visitors can meet the shepherd at Ferme de Samuel every day at 6 p.m. and watch the cows being milked outdoors. Visitor arrangements can change, so check in advance whether the activity is taking place on the day of your visit.

Find hotels in Crévoux

When searching for hotels in Crévoux, it helps to first decide what you want to focus on during your trip: themed trails and village culture offer a different experience from a challenging hike to Lac du Crachet or winter activities in La Chalp. This way, you can plan your stay around the experiences that matter to you instead of trying to fit every option into a single outing.
