Romagne offers a variety of reasons to visit: La Vallée des Singes, the Labyrinthe Végétal and horse-related activities. To plan your trip, start with a simple question: should primates and parkland, fun challenges, or horses and rural trails be the main focus?

La Vallée des Singes and its parkland

La Vallée des Singes is a 22-hectare zoological park for primates in Romagne. It is home to 450 primates living in a naturalistic semi-free environment. The grounds include shaded paths, streams and cascades. So, alongside the primates, the park’s paths and water features are also among its defining characteristics. If the park is an important reason for your trip, check seasonal access before travelling.

Labyrinthe Végétal: mazes and sensory trail

At the Sentier des Pas Perdus, the Labyrinthe Végétal comprises four themed mazes: Laby'Bois, Laby'Gazon, Laby'Arbustes and Laby'Maïs. The attraction is also known as “Labyrinthe infernal.” It also features a sensory trail that you can complete dressed or barefoot, with your eyes open or closed. There are three pedal-kart tracks. Opening arrangements may vary seasonally; check current conditions before your visit.

Horse activities and rural trails

Au pré discis offers introductory pony rides for children aged two and over, as well as horseback rides and hikes with horses and ponies. There is also an approximately one-hour walk-through board game about horse welfare, suitable for families or friends. Activities are available by reservation; arrange your booking before travelling.

Nature et tradition is a circular riding route that starts and ends in Romagne. It runs through grain fields and follows paths once used by local farmers. The route thus combines a clearly defined loop with the former use of the paths and the surrounding farmland. Check trail conditions before setting out.

Fête du Cheval and local history

The large Fête du Cheval takes place in Romagne every year in August. Horses, mules, donkeys and Poitou donkeys are presented. If you would like to include the festival in your travel plans, check the specific event dates before travelling.

The local history also offers points of interest. The Église Saint-Laurent is partially protected as a historic monument; the protection covers the choir, side aisle and north chapel. In Romagne, the Logis de la Millière is a site of former seigneurial settlement. The church and the manor house thus represent different aspects of the area: precisely defined heritage protection and former seigneurial use.

Practical information

For travellers with a motorhome, the Romagne motorhome parking area at La Vallée des Singes has a grassy area, a paved area and shaded spots. Check availability before travelling. Practical arrangements vary across the other activities: Au pré discis activities require a reservation, while trail conditions should be checked for Nature et tradition. The annual Fête du Cheval takes place in August; for your trip, check the dates for that year’s event.
