A mill wheel enclosed by railings, preserved depictions of saints and walks along the Benaize give La Trimouille tangible cultural and natural attractions. A community-run cinema, diverse collections and different types of trails complete the picture. To plan your trip, you can first decide whether cultural history, milling technology or outdoor activities should take centre stage.

Churches and Architectural History

The former Church of Saint-Pierre was fully listed as a historic monument on 14 April 2026. Depictions of Saint Radegonde and Saint Valérie have been preserved inside. The parish church of Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens was built in 1870 by diocesan architect Boutaud. This brings two distinct aspects of church history together: the preserved images in the former church and the precise construction date and architect of the parish church. If you are interested in sacred art, you can focus on the depictions; if you are exploring architectural history, you can look at the year and the architect. This makes it possible to distinguish the churches’ appeal to culturally minded visitors according to what interests them about each one.

Milling and Grain

A mill was used to grind grain—wheat or barley, depending on the farmers’ needs. The milling process connects the mill’s technical function with a specific agricultural need, adding its practical purpose to the picture of milling.

The Moulin de La Font

The Moulin de La Font has an exterior mill wheel enclosed by railings, and several mechanical components are located on the ground floor. The wheel shapes the building’s exterior appearance, while the ground-floor components underline the mill’s technical character. The privately operated mill is open to the public from June to September during cultural events. Since visits are tied to these events, check the dates before you go. The building’s details and seasonal access conditions give a visit to the mill both a technical and a practical focus.

Cinema and Collections

Cinéma l’Etoile is a community-run cinema with a weekly programme of six films for all age groups. Its weekly programme offers a different focus from the historic buildings and milling topics. The Atelier des collectionneurs makes diverse collections available to the public. The cinema and the atelier therefore offer different forms of culture: a regular film programme and a public collection. When weighing up your cultural interests as you plan your trip, you can choose between films, collections and historical topics.

Walks and Trails

The banks of the Benaize are well suited to walking. La Trimouille also has six hiking trails, as well as cycling and mountain biking routes. When narrowing down your options, consider the type of activity you prefer: the riverbanks are a specific option for a walk, while the hiking trails offer their own routes on foot. Cycling and mountain biking routes are options for activities on wheels. You can therefore first choose between a walk, a hike and a bike ride, then decide which activity to focus on for your trip.
