Four round towers and medieval moats define the Château de Dissay. The château was built by Pierre d’Amboise at the end of the 15th century. In 1989, the château, its stables and the moats with their bridges were listed as historic monuments.

Château and church

The Église Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul also dates from the 15th century and was built in the Flamboyant Gothic style. A stained-glass window in the parish church bears the inscriptions “F.C. HUBERT PBRE CURE DE DISSAY. 1609” and “S. DOMINECUS”. The two buildings offer different perspectives on their history: the château is defined by its towers, moats and listed features, while the church’s style and inscriptions reveal other details. Both buildings date from the 15th century; the inscription “1609” on the church window provides a specific later date. The construction period and the dated inscription thus stand alongside one another as distinct historical clues.

Trails and nature in Dissay

Le chemin du brame is a 16.8-kilometre route in Dissay and is rated easy. Along the way, the marais des Lordières is considered an important reservoir of biodiversity. The distance and difficulty rating serve different planning purposes: the number of kilometres indicates the length, while the rating indicates the difficulty. Together, they give you two concrete criteria for assessing how the route fits into your day’s plans.

At Coteau des Pendants, there is a marked educational trail with information panels and a leaflet to help you discover the area. From the centre of Dissay, you can reach the coteau on foot via Chemin des Vallis, following the yellow trail markers. The options have different focuses: for Le chemin du brame, the route length and difficulty rating are key; at the coteau, the educational trail, panels and leaflet help visitors discover the area.

Spa and market

The Spa du Château de Dissay covers 430 m² and is located in the former wine cellar. It includes treatment rooms, a sauna, a hammam and a heated indoor pool with a counter-current system. Wellness treatments are available by appointment. As facilities and appointment arrangements may change, check both with the operator in advance.

The Marché des producteurs brings local producers together again in Dissay and offers an opportunity to shop and share an evening meal. If you plan to make the market a set part of your itinerary, check the current event dates beforehand.

Plan your stay

If you are considering Dissay as a destination, you can start by choosing your focus: architectural history, nature, or an event involving the market or spa. If the market or a wellness treatment is the reason for your trip, the event date or appointment time is a practical anchor for your plans.
