Chadurie offers a range of ways to explore the area: the Église Saint-Saturnin, the Logis de Puygâty, the landscape of the Landes de Bois Rond, and local produce and crafts. Depending on whether you are interested in architectural history, nature or regional production, you can tailor your stay to suit your interests.

Church and manor house

The Église Saint-Saturnin dates from the 12th century and has been listed as a historic monument since 17 June 1925. Its three-bay nave has no surviving vault; one bay is covered by a domical vault. In the apse, an arcade of five openings divides the space. These architectural features give a clear impression of what distinguishes the church.

The Logis de Puygâty is a manor house representing a small rural seigneury in Charente of medieval origin. It has been partially protected as a historic monument since 6 March 1987. The protected elements are the manor house’s façades and roofs, the enclosure with its towers, the portals and the entrance gate. For the Église Saint-Saturnin, monument protection applies to the church; for the Logis de Puygâty, it explicitly covers specific structural elements.

Heathland and oak woodland

The landscape is also one of Chadurie’s distinctive features. The Landes de Bois Rond is a type 1 continental ZNIEFF covering 210.1 hectares and including, among other areas, Chadurie. It includes dry heathland dominated by common heath (Erica scoparia), as well as acidophilous Atlantic oak woodland. Alongside the historic buildings, these are distinctive natural habitats that offer a different focus for your trip.

Produce and crafts

The Ferme de Dallignac combines agricultural produce with on-site visits: the farm offers tours with tastings by prior reservation. Its products include beef, veal, honey and related products; regional produce is available for direct sale. As visits must be booked and the range of products may change, it is worth enquiring before your visit.

At Eveil et moi, you can find out about the products and which local markets the maker attends. The range includes textile items made partly or entirely from reused materials and intended for all generations. These include felt memory and domino games. Getting in touch offers a way to discover local crafts and the markets where the maker is present.

Picnic area and former washhouse

The picnic area in Chadurie, around the village community hall, has four wooden tables. Opposite the picnic area, on the other side of the D438, you can visit the former washhouse. If you visit both places, you will need to cross the road; take care when doing so. The picnic area and washhouse are two clearly identified places to stop, while the church, manor house, nature and regional produce each appeal to different interests.
