Vaux-Sur-Mer offers several different ways to plan a stay: coastal coves and beaches, a section of the Vélodyssée, as well as culture and events. When planning your trip, you can decide whether to focus on time by the sea, cycling, historic sites or musical events.

Coastal Coves, Beaches and Routes

The four coastal coves are connected by the Sentier des Douaniers. The sandy coves of Vaux-Sur-Mer are lined with limestone cliffs. The Plage du Conseil can be explored via the Sentier des Douaniers; from the Plage du Conseil, you can see the Cordouan Lighthouse.

The Plage de Nauzan is the largest beach in Vaux-Sur-Mer. A paved promenade with shops and a restaurant runs alongside the beach. At the Plage Gilet, the tide level is important: at high tide, the beach is completely covered. If you plan to visit, check the tides beforehand.

The beaches therefore each have different features: Nauzan has the promenade, at Gilet you should be aware that the beach is completely covered at high tide, and from the Plage du Conseil you can see as far as the Cordouan Lighthouse.

The routes also differ in scale. The Sentier des Douaniers connects the four local coves. The Vélodyssée is a European cycling route along the Atlantic coast; Vaux-Sur-Mer is one of its stages. This offers two distinct options: a coastal path linking the coves and a long-distance cycling route.

Music and History

The annual Jeudis Musicaux programme is devoted to classical music and includes a concert in the Church of Saint-Étienne. The Temple de Vaux-Sur-Mer was rebuilt between 1841 and 1848 on the site of a former Protestant temple. It also serves as a venue for exhibitions and events.

At Plage de Saint-Sordelin, there are viviers that once served the Chapel of Saint-Nicolas. This historical connection adds another theme to the coastal side of the town, distinct from the beach and cycling route.

Summer Events

During Jeudis de Nauzan, the Nauzan promenade comes alive with music every Thursday in July and August. Unlike Jeudis Musicaux, this event takes place on the promenade and during a clearly defined summer period. A night market is also held every Monday in summer. Check local listings before your visit.

Sports and Events at the Parc des Sports

The Parc des Sports has a basketball court, outdoor fitness equipment, an outdoor table tennis table and a cycling cross-country track. The park also has a fenced-in children's play area with slides, seesaws and climbing frames. Flea markets, trade fairs, circus events and sporting events are held there regularly. The same park therefore brings together specific sports and play facilities as well as recurring events.
