There are several different themes to choose from for a stay in Thiers-sur-Thève: hiking, forest scenery, heritage and fishing. The “En forêt de Pontarmé” route is 7.5 kilometres long and takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes; the Pierre Monconseil Trail is 1.5 kilometres long. Other highlights include Butte aux Gens d'Armes, the listed ruins of Château de Thiers-sur-Thève and the fishing waters of Les Étangs de Saint-André. This gives you the option of choosing based on either distance or interest.

Plan the circular hike

The “En forêt de Pontarmé” route starts and ends at the village car park in Thiers-sur-Thève. It is an easy 7.5-kilometre circular hike that passes through Thiers-sur-Thève and Pontarmé. The entire loop takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. Distance, route shape and duration answer different planning questions: the distance tells you how much ground you will cover, the circular format describes the type of route, and the time is an approximate guide. Check local parking conditions before setting out.

Forest scenery and elevation

The landscape along the route is shaped by sandy soils, pine trees and heather alongside the paths. If, on a hike, you pay attention not only to the route but also to the ground and vegetation, these features offer specific things to look out for.

Butte aux Gens d'Armes is a distinctive landscape feature: it is a hill in the Forêt de Pontarmé, reaches 103 metres and is one of the few elevated points in the Forêt de Chantilly. While the ground and plants along the paths shape the character of the route, the butte stands out for its elevation. This offers a way to appreciate path-side vegetation and relief as different aspects of the landscape.

Heritage as a focus in its own right

The ruins of Château de Thiers-sur-Thève are classified as a historic monument under the 1862 list. The year refers to the list and therefore to the classification. This designation gives the heritage a specific point of reference alongside the natural attractions. History and hiking are therefore distinct focuses for your stay.

Nature trail and fishing waters

The Pierre Monconseil Trail is a 1.5-kilometre nature trail halfway between Thiers-sur-Thève and Mortefontaine. Compared with the 7.5-kilometre loop, it is six kilometres shorter and covers one fifth of the distance. The locations also differ: the loop passes through Thiers-sur-Thève and Pontarmé, while the nature trail lies between Thiers-sur-Thève and Mortefontaine. You can therefore compare the routes by length, format and geographical description: a shorter nature trail or an easy loop with an approximate duration.

Les Étangs de Saint-André in Thiers-sur-Thève are fishing waters. If you are planning to fish, check local access conditions before your visit.
