Changé brings together the architectural history of the Château de la Buzardière and the Église Saint-Martin with the Coulée verte in the town centre. It runs along the Gué Carré from north to south and stretches for more than 1.3 km. You can therefore plan your stay around historic building periods or outdoor walks, leisure and exercise. What would you like to shape your time in Changé: heritage, trails or views?

Château and church: different timelines

The Château de la Buzardière has been listed as a Monument historique since 13 April 1928. Its main building periods date from the 15th and 18th centuries. The Église Saint-Martin reaches further back: its oldest parts date from the 11th century; the transepts, or cross-shaped sections of the church building, were built in the 15th century. The church was fully restored in 1950. Comparing the two sites reveals different timelines: two main building periods are identified for the château; the oldest parts of the church date back further, while the transept and restoration mark later chapters.

The Coulée verte in the town centre

The Coulée verte is a public space for leisure, sport and walks. It crosses Changé from north to south along the Gué Carré and stretches for more than 1.3 km through the town centre. The pond in the Coulée verte is particularly popular with anglers and walkers. Its central location and north–south extent give the space a clear geographical framework for walks and leisure in the town.

On foot, by bike and on hiking trails

Changé has safe routes for pedestrians and cyclists that run through the commune, with various distances to choose from. The commune also provides information about hiking trails in its area and the surrounding region. The options differ in scope: you can choose between distances on the walking and cycling routes, while hikes can also take you into the area around Changé. The Coulée verte, by contrast, is a central leisure area stretching more than 1.3 km from north to south.

Panoramic views at La Butte

The La Butte picnic area offers a different perspective. From there, you can enjoy panoramic views of Champagné, Montfort-le-Gênois and its château, as well as the forest around the Château de la Buzardière. The view brings named places and buildings together with the forest landscape. If you would like to include a viewpoint in your plans as well as architectural history and trails, the panorama is the main attraction here.

A high point in Changé

A geodetic marker indicates an elevation of 124 m; the point it marks is the highest in the commune of Changé.
