In Ancinnes, you can compare two different hiking experiences: a route through nearby villages and countryside, and a circular trail leading to a distinctive tree. There are also outdoor activities at Étang de l’Oisellerie, the history of an old church and a manor house with changing visiting options. This makes it easy to plan a stay that combines exercise, water and heritage.

Hiking Trails and Forest

The Les 3 villages hiking trail is 16.7 km long and passes through nearby villages. The circular route takes you through varied landscapes and their history. At 7.9 km, Le Séquoia is considerably shorter and leads to a magnificent sequoia, considered a natural heritage landmark of Ancinnes. The trails therefore differ both in length and in their stated destinations: one focuses on villages and the history of the landscape, while the other leads to a remarkable natural landmark. There is a car park and a picnic area at the starting point for Les 3 villages and Le Séquoia.

Part of the municipality of Ancinnes lies within the Forêt domaniale de Perseigne. The forest offers opportunities for walking, cycling, horse riding and carriage driving. It also has more than 60 km of bridleways, five mountain biking circuits and numerous marked hiking trails. If you plan to visit, check local trail conditions and facilities before setting out.

Walks and Fishing at the Pond

The municipal Étang de l’Oisellerie is open year-round and free to access for outdoor activities. These include walks, picnics and sports. Fishing is permitted from the first weekend in March until 1 November. If you are planning a fishing trip, check the stated period and local conditions in advance so you can take the seasonal restrictions into account.

Church, Organ and Manoir de Couesme

The original parts of the Church of Saint Pierre et Saint Paul d’Ancinnes date from the 11th and 12th centuries. The church houses the Damiens organ, built in 1863 and now one of the few functioning organs still in the region. It has around fifteen stops, two manual keyboards, a 13-key pedalboard and 850 pipes. Its construction history and instrument offer different points of interest for anyone interested in sacred architecture or organs. The opportunity to hear the organ may vary.

The Manoir de Couesme was built between the 14th and 16th centuries and retains architectural features from these periods. It was once the seat of the Seigneurie de Couesmes; since 15 February 2005, it has been listed as a historic monument. The exterior can be viewed independently, and guided tours are available on request. Check the current conditions before your visit. Every September, the manor hosts an exhibition of contemporary art. Check the specific exhibition dates for your travel year.

Practical Information for Your Visit

In the centre of Ancinnes, near the town hall, is the Maison des Randonneurs. Its freely accessible garden has a covered picnic area with tables and benches, a water supply and public toilets. The Maison des Randonneurs is open year-round. If any of the facilities are important to your plans, check the local conditions in advance.

Another example of local environmental work is the municipal Rucher d’Ancinnes apiary at the lagoon site. It has five beehives and two nucleus hives and contributes to the pollination of flowering plants and to raising awareness of biodiversity and a healthy environment.
