Longuefuye can be explored from several angles: heritage, insights into farming and walks each offer a different focus. The arrangements vary in specific ways: visits to Les Vergers de la Rouérie require a reservation, while one named walking route has a clearly stated distance of 6 km. There is also a clear restriction on the ponds: swimming is expressly prohibited in the ponds listed by the municipality. Planning your days around what is actually on offer, rather than a general expectation of an outing, makes it easier to balance farm visits, culture and exercise.

Church and heritage

The Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Visitation is listed in the regional heritage inventory of the Pays de la Loire under reference IA53004207. Its choir was restored in 2024. Another item of Longuefuye’s smaller heritage is the restored “plaque de cocher de l’Espérance” (directional sign), which dates to around 1860. In 2023, it was also proposed that an application be made for departmental support to restore the church’s two side altars and high altar. This means a historic object sits alongside restoration projects at different stages: work on the choir is complete, while an application for the altars was proposed.

Farm visits and regional products

Les Vergers de la Rouérie produces cider, apple juice, poiré, pommeau and apple cider vinegar. The range may change. If you would like to learn more than just about the products, you can visit the orchards and cellar by reservation, followed by a tasting. A reservation is required for these visits; please arrange the date and details in advance, as visiting arrangements may change.

At La Cour de Villette in Longuefuye, Villette en Direct has been raising sheep since August 2017. The farm has welcomed visitors since November 2022 to introduce them to its operations. Offerings include a self-guided walk around the farm, explaining farming practices and the livestock system, as well as a visit to the sheepfold. The two farms have different focuses: Villette centres on sheep farming and agricultural practices, while Les Vergers focuses on orchards, the cellar and tastings. As visiting arrangements or seasonal schedules may change, please check in advance whether a visit is possible.

Walking trails and ponds

There is a clearly measured option for a walk: the “Circuit de Gennes-sur-Glaize à Longuefuye” is an easy 6 km circular route. The “Circuit des Boucles de Gennes-Longuefuye” is also designated as a walking loop in Gennes-Longuefuye. Renovation work on the “Boucles de Gennes-sur-Glaize et Longuefuye” hiking route has been confirmed. Before setting out, it is worth checking the details and markings for each route: distances and descriptions may change if a route is diverted or maintained, and municipal route information should be checked for any updates.

At the ponds, treat swimming and fishing separately. Swimming is expressly prohibited in the ponds listed by the municipality. The pond at Longuefuye is among the bodies of water for which the municipality publishes fishing information. If you plan to fish, check the applicable fishing rules and access arrangements before travelling.
