La Baconnière can be explored through three distinct themes: La Briqueterie combines walks, plant diversity and the history of clay extraction and brickmaking. There are also the pump track and Espace Langerringen, with play areas and tennis. These different attractions can help you plan your stay: nature and local history sit alongside exercise, play and sport.
La Briqueterie: Nature and Brickmaking History
La Briqueterie has been awarded the “Chemin de la nature” designation; Mayenne Nature Environnement granted it on 18 March 2011. It is also a historic site for clay extraction and brickmaking in La Baconnière. The pond and paths at La Briqueterie offer opportunities for walks. Visitors can combine their appreciation of nature with the history of brickmaking at the same site.
The flora includes several species of reed, rushes, water mint, the yellow flowers of Pulicaria dysenterica, knapweeds and other plants. At La Briqueterie, visitors can therefore discover both its former use for brickmaking and its diverse plant life.
The Parish Church: Building History and a Later Turning Point
The parish church of Saint-Corneille-et-Saint-Cyprien was rebuilt between 1864 and 1868 to plans by departmental architect Pierre-Aimé Renous. It was destroyed in summer 2023. This sequence is essential to understanding its history: the rebuilding dates to the 19th century, while the destruction marks a later turning point.
Pump Track and Espace Langerringen
The La Baconnière pump track is a course with bumps and dips. It is designed as a facility for all generations that is mixed and inclusive. Helmets are required regardless of age or skill level.
Espace Langerringen is a recreational and meeting area next to La Baconnière town hall. It has play areas with a zip line and a slide, as well as a tennis court. The two leisure facilities are quite different: the pump track is defined by its course, while Espace Langerringen combines play areas and tennis in a recreational and meeting area.
As a guide, you can choose among the local attractions based on your interests: La Briqueterie offers walks and plant life with a historical connection, the pump track provides exercise on a course with bumps, and Espace Langerringen has play areas and tennis. When planning your stay, you can decide which of these different activities you would like to make part of it.
