Fégréac combines a large waterside landscape with walks and a varied cultural offering. This makes it easy to bring together different interests during a stay: nature by the water, paths through the countryside, or local culture. Its distinctive character can be seen in several independent attractions, from Étang Aumée and the Circuit du Bellion to cultural venues and events.
Étang Aumée and countryside trails
Étang Aumée covers 110 hectares and is surrounded by forests and marshes. Its only beach access is within the commune of Fégréac. There are play equipment for children, picnic tables, a boules court and toilet facilities. These amenities bring together options for different kinds of waterside break: playing, picnicking or playing boules.
Walks with different highlights
Fégréac’s walking routes pass through valleys, follow canals and ponds, and connect natural and historic landscapes. One specific example is the Circuit du Bellion: its route passes through the Marais de Fégréac, through woodland and along the shore of Étang Aumée. As access conditions may change seasonally, check the route information before setting out.
“Les Découvertes du Vendredi” is a different kind of walk: weekly group walks of around 4 to 6 km take place every July. They include meetings with local craftspeople and livestock farmers, as well as tastings of regional products. The difference when choosing is clear: the Circuit focuses on named landscape sections, while the Friday walks combine an approximate distance with encounters and tastings.
Culture between the stage and history
La Carrière has a 300-seat theatre for summer performances by an amateur troupe. La Forge focuses on exchange, openness, discovery and diversity, while also exploring heritage, history and memory. Its programme includes art exhibitions and themed exhibitions, concerts, film and documentary screenings, public readings, theatre, puppet theatre and conferences. La Forge also supports artist residencies, which usually conclude with a free performance open to everyone.
Gallo-Roman remains in the Fégréac area include fragments of moulded terracotta figures, including the “Vénus de Fégréac”. This means that, alongside the landscape and cultural programme, the area’s historical offerings also include archaeological evidence.
A break and an event in Pont-Miny
Pont-Miny is a rest stop for cyclists and walkers, where they can enjoy the natural landscape; picnic areas provide opportunities to take a break outdoors. The two-day “Autos Motos Bateaux Rétro” gathering, with activities and refreshments, is also held there every year.
When to visit and how to find accommodation
The seasonal details are particularly useful for planning: “Les Découvertes du Vendredi” take place every July, La Carrière’s performances are held in summer, and the gathering in Pont-Miny takes place annually. If you are timing your holiday rental search around one of these events, check the specific dates before booking.
