The Arques River runs through Martin-Église, and the Forêt d’Arques borders the commune. The area also has protected viewpoints, historic buildings and tours focused on agriculture and food. This mix gives you several ways to shape your stay: you can focus on the scenery, the heritage or the production of local goods.

Scenery and viewpoints

At a protected viewpoint on the Route d’Eu à Saint-Nicolas d’Aliermont, the panorama takes in the plain, the slopes of Palcheul and the village of Martin-Église. Another protected viewpoint is located on the V.C. N°1 of the Route d’Eu à Saint-Nicolas d’Aliermont. From there, the panoramic view stretches across the Eaulne and Arques valleys to the Château d’Arques. The two viewpoints offer different perspectives: one takes in the plain, slopes and village, while the other looks out over valleys and the château.

The Parcours Trail · Jean-Paul Villain also takes you through the landscapes of the Dieppe area. The route follows paths and pastures, offering a varied succession of different trail and landscape types. It starts in front of the bread oven in Martin-Église. The river, the edge of the forest, the named viewpoints and the trail each offer a different way to experience the landscape, without requiring them to be part of a single route.

Architectural history and local heritage

The Église Saint-Martin is designated as heritage worthy of protection. It dates from the 12th century and was altered in the 13th and 16th centuries. The Pont de la Vierge is also designated as heritage worthy of protection; it is associated with the 13th, 17th and 18th centuries. Their different dates make both buildings tangible points of reference for local history, without reducing their histories to the same period.

Etran offers insight into another historical subject: in the 13th and 14th centuries, it was a small landing port for flat-bottomed boats. The Monastère Sainte-Marie de Thibermont in Martin-Église is also part of the local heritage context. The Association Saint-Augustin works to restore, maintain and promote the heritage of the Augustinian community, and supports its cultural and humanitarian activities.

Walks and a glimpse of craftsmanship

The Loisirs et Culture association organizes walks throughout the year to explore the landscapes of Normandy. The group meets every second Sunday at 8:30 a.m. in the car park at Leclerc in Martin-Église. As the time and meeting place may change, check the details before making plans. This is a different kind of outing from the Parcours Trail · Jean-Paul Villain, which focuses on the paths, pastures and changing landscape types described above.

A stone-carving workshop is held in the municipal workshops on Tuesdays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Participants can make items such as bookends, bas-reliefs and statues. Participation is limited to association members; the schedule and participation requirements may change. If you would like to include this workshop in your plans, check in advance whether the date and requirements work for you.

Agriculture and culinary tours

La Grange Saint-Etienne processes produce grown on site, including flax, rapeseed and sunflower oils, soft wheat and buckwheat flours, and durum wheat pasta. Visitors learn about traditional milling during a tour and follow the production process from growing flax and cereals to the plate. This connects the range of products with the journey the raw ingredients make before they are processed.

A tour of the Ateliers d’Étran introduces the history, recipe and preparation of caramel de pommes. The 2026 programme also lists a two-hour guided culinary tour. Check the specific dates and availability in advance if you would like to include this tour in your stay. Another annual event is La Choule, a local festival in Martin-Église. As no current event date is available, it is advisable to check the date before planning a trip around it.
