Le Mesnil-Sous-Jumièges lies on the right bank of the Seine and within the Boucles de la Seine Normande Regional Natural Park. Two different perspectives can guide your planning: the landscape, with its seasonal fruit-tree blossom, and the town’s cultural history. There are also activities at the Base de loisirs de Jumièges–Le Mesnil. This lets you tailor your stay to the things that interest you locally, without combining the different offerings into a single route.
Seine riverbanks and blossom
Depending on the weather, many apple, cherry, pear and plum trees blossom in Le Mesnil-Sous-Jumièges in April and May. Their blossoms then shape the landscape. This period is a guide, not a fixed date: if fruit-tree blossom is a key part of your trip, bear in mind that its timing depends on the weather.
Rue du Perrey is a good spot for views over blossoming orchards. Route du Conihout is recommended for experiencing the fruit-tree blossom in Le Mesnil-Sous-Jumièges. These are two different ways to enjoy this seasonal feature: a view from Rue du Perrey and the recommended route. No connection or walking time between the two is implied.
Church and historic heritage
The Church of Saint-Philibert is first mentioned in 1147. The present-day church dates from the 16th and 19th centuries and has a Latin cross floor plan. Its early mention and the dates of the present building refer to different periods: the year 1147 refers to the church’s mention, not to the construction of the present building.
The Manoir de la Vigne is also among the historic places named in Le Mesnil-Sous-Jumièges and is known as the “manoir d’Agnès Sorel.” The north building of its gatehouse is classified as a historic monument. This classification was made by decree on 17 December 1993. This precise attribution matters: it refers to the north building of the gatehouse, not to the entire manor.
Activities at the leisure base
The Base de loisirs de Jumièges–Le Mesnil offers kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, mega stand-up paddleboarding and pedal boating on its lake. The options range from kayaks and different forms of stand-up paddleboarding to pedal boats. Activities are seasonal; check which options will be available during your visit before you travel.
At the leisure base’s golf course, supervised group sessions with a golf professional are available. They cover long shots, approach shots and putting. Check reservation requirements and availability for these sessions before your trip. The group sessions have a different focus from the lake activities and can play a separate role in planning your day.
Planning your trip and stay
Le Mesnil-Sous-Jumièges is served by the Réseau filo'r, an on-demand transport service that must be booked in advance. Check the booking conditions when planning, as transport services and booking arrangements may change.
Shuttle buses from Rouen to the Base de loisirs de Jumièges–Le Mesnil run daily. Check the timetable and shuttle service before travelling. This is separate information about the leisure base and does not imply a connection to any of the other places mentioned. If fruit-tree blossom is your main focus, use its weather-dependent timing in April and May as your guide; for planned activities on the lake or at the golf course, the key things to check are the season, or reservations and availability.
