Forges-Les-Eaux can be explored during a stay through two themes: cultural history and collections, as well as forests, ponds and fishing. A historic walking tour, a regional route’s history and events held each year round out this selection.

Museums and local history

The Musée du santon et des crêches du monde opened in December 2023. Across 300 m², it displays more than 2,000 santons and hundreds of nativity scenes. For travellers who choose museums by subject, santons and nativity scenes are the focus here.

The Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation focuses on a different period of history. Across two floors, it displays historical collections about France’s role in the war, Vichy and collaboration, deportation, and the Resistance. Visitors choosing between the two museums can thus distinguish collections about santons and nativity scenes from historical themes relating to war and resistance.

The town’s history also includes the second Le Grand Casino: it opened in 1902 after the first casino was destroyed by fire in 1896. The timeline thus runs from the destruction of the first casino to the later opening of the second.

The historic walking tour of Forges-Les-Eaux has 20 stops and is designed to take about two hours on foot. Allow this amount of time for walking. If you’d like to linger longer at the stops, add time according to your own pace.

Forests, ponds and fishing

The Bois de l'Epinay is designated an Espace naturel sensible, covers 72 hectares and lies between the two small rivers Andelle and Chevrette. Four ecological or forestry trails let you explore the area. The Lac de l'Andelle was created in the 1980s and consists of five artificial ponds. The Étang de l'Epinay, also called lac des pêcheurs, is a peaceful meeting place for fishing enthusiasts. The natural spots therefore each have a different focus: designated woodland with trails, artificial ponds, or a quiet fishing spot.

Events and travel

The town of Forges-Les-Eaux holds numerous free events each year, including the FĂŞte du Cheval. If your stay depends on a particular festival, check the date for your travel dates in advance, as individual event dates may change.

The regional route also has its own history: the Forges-Les-Eaux–Dieppe section begins in the Pays de Bray. The Avenue Verte London–Paris was created in this area on the former railway line between Dieppe and Paris.

Serqueux station is a few kilometres from Forges-Les-Eaux and is served by several train lines. Check the train connection against the current timetable before your trip. This lets you plan your journey for your travel date without relying on any particular train line.
