Several themes come together in Fleury-La-Forêt, without needing to form a single, unified sightseeing itinerary: the Église Saint-Denis-Saint-Brice, with its distinctive masonry; the Boucle des mares, with its eleven ponds; and the Château de Fleury-la-Forêt, home to a museum of antique dolls. Architectural heritage, landscape and local culture each offer their own focus. Visitors choosing the area for a stay can take their cue from these distinct features and plan their days around their own interests.

Architectural heritage in several forms

The Église Saint-Denis-Saint-Brice dates back to the 12th century. Its south walls feature a checkerboard pattern of sandstone and flint. In addition to its age, the design of the south walls is another distinctive feature of the church. In the hamlet of La Boulaie, the focus shifts from the church to rural architectural history: the hamlet includes numerous former agricultural buildings, most of which date from the 18th century. Another local heritage site is the Scierie MOMMERT, which has been based in Fleury-La-Forêt since 1952. The church, former agricultural buildings and sawmill represent different aspects of the area's history: religious architecture, agriculture and local industry.

The Château de Fleury-la-Forêt houses a museum of antique dolls. Check whether it is open before visiting. A guided tour of the Église Saint-Denis-Saint-Brice was also part of a specific past event: it featured in the commune's third participation in Pierres en Lumières on 19 May 2024. The museum and the tour thus offer two different ways to experience the past: an institution whose opening status should be checked, and a clearly dated event.

Ponds and landscape

The updated Boucle des mares starts at Place de l’église and offers the chance to discover eleven ponds. Along the route, the ponds provide refuge, habitat and breeding grounds for many animal and plant species. This gives the loop a different focus from the historic buildings: the emphasis is on habitats and their ecological function. Route details may change, so check them before setting out. Fleury-La-Forêt also has numerous picnic tables where visitors can enjoy a picnic and relax.

Art and textile crafts

A concert was held on the barn stage at the Fabrique du Pré. The Fabrique has also hosted music, theatre, storytelling, film, dance and visual arts events. This adds a broad range of artistic forms to the area's architectural history, without implying that there is a current events programme.

Premier Matin makes home textiles such as cushions, curtains, table linen and lampshades. Fabrics and accessories can be bought there by the piece, along with a selection of decorative items. Textile design thus adds a craft and creative dimension to the area's architectural heritage, nature and events.

When choosing a focus, it is helpful to distinguish between them: the Église, La Boulaie and the Scierie represent architectural and local history, while the Boucle des mares focuses on ponds and their ecological functions. Past arts events at the Fabrique du Pré and Premier Matin's textile products offer yet other points of interest.
