Nonant offers several different points of interest for a trip: a church with building phases spanning several centuries, a Bronze Age farmstead, regional publications and specialties, and a circular route that begins in the village. The topics range from architectural and local history to landscapes and regional products. When planning your stay, you can first decide which focus matters most to you.

The church and early local history

The church in Nonant has building phases dating from the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th centuries. It is protected as a historic monument; it was listed by decree dated February 13, 1975. The four centuries of construction and the date of the decree answer different questions: the building phases describe the structure’s development over time, while the date indicates its protected status. This distinction is useful for understanding its cultural history, because the church cannot be reduced to a single year of construction.

A different time scale is represented by the Bronze Age farmstead located in Nonant, which is dated to around 1500 BC. The date is approximate. Compared with the church’s building phases, this takes us far back beyond the Middle Ages: the farmstead represents a much earlier period, while the church’s history is divided into building phases spanning several centuries. Anyone interested in the history of the village can thus distinguish between two different periods.

Regional specialties and publications

The Orep Éditions boutique sells specialties from Normandy, including cider, Pommeau, Calvados, caramel, biscuits, terrines and gourmet gift baskets. The boutique, which also houses a bookshop, sells maps and DVDs as well. Orep is also a publishing house specializing in Normandy, with more than 700 publications on archaeology, history, heritage, tourism, nature and gastronomy.

Regional foods are thus available alongside different ways to explore the themes of Normandy: maps and DVDs complement books covering topics from archaeology and history to nature and gastronomy. If you plan to visit the boutique, check its opening hours beforehand.

Circular route starting in Nonant

The “Autour de Nonant” circular route starts in the village and passes through Martragny, Vaux and Carcagny. Along the way, it offers views of several châteaux and manor houses. The route therefore connects a starting point in Nonant with several named villages and views of historic estates. Before setting out, it is advisable to check local conditions.

Bus stops and event details

A timetable effective from September 1, 2025, shows Nomad route 1115 serving the stops Nonant École and Condé-sur-Seulles. Within Nonant, the route goes via Le Treilloux and Le Breuil. The stop names help distinguish the points mentioned in the village from the other stops along the route. Check the current timetable before travelling.

A dated glimpse of local events is the running and cross-country race “Les Foulées Nonantaises,” held in Nonant, Normandy, on October 13, 2024. The programme for that edition included an unofficial 5 km race and an unofficial 10 km trail run. The details show two different race distances featured in that programme.
