Le Pin offers two specific ways to explore during a stay: its architectural history and circular routes on foot or by mountain bike. At the Château du Pin, different building phases come together: the main building was constructed from brick and stone around 1620; two projecting pavilions were added in the mid-18th century. The choice of routes is also clearly laid out: one circular walking route and two circular mountain-bike trails offer different experiences. You can get to know the area through its architecture or through a specific outdoor activity.

A château built in several phases

The main building and pavilions of the Château du Pin date from different periods. The main building was constructed from brick and stone around 1620; two pavilions in front of it were built in the mid-18th century. They therefore belong to a later building phase. The château is partially listed as a monument historique. Its construction date, materials and partial listing give visitors interested in culture several specific points to consider when placing the estate in context.

Église Notre-Dame: materials and alterations

Église Notre-Dame offers another perspective on the area’s architectural history. It is built from flint and stone, and the years 1664, 1770 and 1773 are visible on it. These dates point to numerous alterations, telling the story of several changes rather than a single building phase. The western tower is thought to date from the 16th century. Stone is a material shared by both buildings; brick is also used at the château, while flint is found at the church. The two named buildings thus show different combinations of materials and have their own distinct historical contexts.

On foot to the esplanade

The Le Pin en Lieuvin circular walking route is 7.0 km long and starts in Le Pin, leading to the esplanade of the Château du Pin. It begins at the car park of Le Pin’s salle des fêtes, on the D51. The route details therefore include not only the distance and circular format, but also the destination at the esplanade and the starting point. These specifics help you consider the walk as an option in its own right alongside the mountain-bike routes.

Two circular mountain-bike routes

Two circular routes on the Circuit du Plateau de Moyaux start at the mairie in Le Pin. The 13 km option is rated very easy; the 35 km route is rated difficult. The distinction concerns both route length and stated difficulty: the shorter route is very easy, while the longer one is difficult. When choosing between them, you can weigh both factors together rather than looking only at the distance.

Check the latest route information before setting out. For the circular walking route, pay particular attention to the car park starting point in case local parking arrangements have changed.
