Discover Raismes from different perspectives: on circular trails through the forest and beside a pond, with views from the Sabatier mining heap, or through the UNESCO World Heritage of the Sabatier district. The municipality’s landscapes and the natural environment of the forest also offer different ways to shape your trip. When choosing, consider whether outdoor activities, a viewpoint, learning about nature or specific leisure activities matter most to you.

Forest Trails, the Mining Heap and Landscapes

The Sabatier mining heap is 103 metres high. From its summit, you can see across the state forest and the chain of mining heaps in northern France. It offers a distinctive way to experience the landscape, with elevation and views taking centre stage. The Sabatier district is part of Raismes’s UNESCO World Heritage sites and offers a different focus: the area’s cultural heritage.

If you want to discover different types of landscape on one route, the Circuit du patrimoine paysager offers this perspective. It passes through agricultural, forestry, leisure and urban landscapes in Raismes. The Circuits de Sabatier, by contrast, are easy circular trails suitable for families or friends all year round. They pass through the forest, beside the pond and on the mining heap. The routes therefore differ both in their landscape focus and in whether they offer a varied tour or circular walks centred on specific locations.

Forest Nature and Finding Your Way

The Raismes-Saint-Amand-Wallers forest is designated as a Natura 2000 site and protects the habitats of several bird species. If you are interested in the forest’s flora and fauna as well as spending time outdoors, you can visit an exhibition and an audiovisual presentation at the Maison de la Forêt, both of which introduce these topics. The two offerings share nature-related knowledge in different ways: the exhibition invites you to explore its content at your own pace, while the presentation covers it audiovisually.

The Maison de la ForĂŞt also provides information about hiking, horse-riding and mountain biking trails. Several ways of getting around the forest are covered, and the information can help you find your way if you are interested in one of these types of route. In addition, staff organise educational forest outings for families every year. These combine time in the forest with a guided learning activity, making them different from exploring the circular trails independently.

Leisure Activities on the Edge of the Forest

The Parc Loisirs et Nature de La Porte du Hainaut is located on the edge of the Raismes-Saint-Amand-Wallers state forest and is open to visitors free of charge all year round. From April to September, the park offers the public disc golf, Rosalies, mini golf, a zip line, pedal boats, bicycle hire and other leisure activities. The availability periods for individual activities may change. If a particular activity is important to your plans, it is best to check in advance whether it will be available during your visit.

The range includes games such as disc golf and mini golf, water-based activities, Rosalies, a zip line and bicycle hire. This differs from the focus of the easy circular trails or the nature offerings at the Maison de la ForĂŞt: here, the listed leisure activities take centre stage. With the park open all year round and activities available seasonally, you can decide whether to plan your visit around the landscape or a particular activity.
