Visitors choosing Bachy for a stay can get to know the area through two specific avenues: walking routes with clearly stated distances and a history made visible in its chapels, church and museum. When planning your visit, you can focus on a walk, the Musée d’Antan or individual cultural and historical sites, rather than combining everything into a fixed itinerary.

Choose walks by distance and duration

The “Dans les pas de Monique” audio walk is 11 km long. The “Dans les Pas de Monique” group walk starts at Saint-Éloi Church and covers 10.7 km. Check the arrangements for the group walk in advance, as booking arrangements may change.

The “Circuit des chapelles” walking route covers 6 km and takes approximately two hours.

Musée d’Antan and visiting arrangements

The Musée d’Antan preserves more than 550 objects. The reconstructions include a kitchen from the 1900s, a dining room and bedroom from 1950, and a classroom. The rooms give the museum visit a clear layout, placing living and learning spaces side by side.

Schools can visit the museum year-round. Individuals and walking groups can visit during Heritage Days and by request. Admission is free; confirm the visiting arrangements in advance.

Chapels and the history of Saint-Éloi

Chapelle Bourbotte was built between 1886 and 1903 and restored by the municipality in early 2019. The construction period and subsequent restoration provide two clearly dated reference points in the chapel’s history.

Chapelle Choquet stands on the present-day site of the Vierge Bleue and replaced the destroyed Chapelle aux Accouts. The latter was built around 1791 on the site of an old manor house on the Motte de Bachy. The history of Chapelle Choquet can therefore also be linked to the older site on the Motte.

The first written mention of Saint-Éloi Church dates from 1466, when it was described as a ruin. The church also contains two of the five tomb monuments belonging to the Tenremonde family. Here, an early historical reference to the site meets tangible memorials to a family.

Local traditions and produce

The Bourloire de Bachy is purpose-built for the traditional game of bourles. Access is available as part of association activities, during training sessions and events, or to association members; there are no regular public opening hours. Check current access options before visiting.

Ferme Delporte sells agricultural produce directly in Bachy. Availability and arrangements may change. If shopping there is important to your plans, check the current conditions in advance.

The landscape also has a specific landmark: the Elnon rises on the border between Bachy and Cobrieux.
