A viewpoint overlooking the green plain, a former quarry and a named Paris-Roubaix cobbled sector give Mons-En-Pévèle a distinctive connection to heritage and cycling. There is also an exhibition hall in restored stables and activities with clearly specified age, route and access requirements. If you are looking for a holiday rental, you can shape your stay around these different interests.

Pas Roland and the Cense de l'abbaye

Pas Roland and the Cense de l'abbaye together form a designated heritage site. At the Cense, the restored stables have been converted into an exhibition hall, where exhibitions and receptions are held. If you are visiting for a particular exhibition, check the specific programme in advance, as it may change.

Pas Roland is a viewpoint overlooking the surrounding green plain. It was also once a quarry for Pève sandstone. The view and the site's former use as a quarry offer two different ways to experience the same place: taking in the landscape and exploring the history of its sandstone. Since 2004, Pas Roland has served as the venue for the medieval festival organised by the Association Mons-en-Pévèle.

The Paris-Roubaix connection

The cycling connection is also specific: the Mons-en-Pévèle cobbled sector of Paris-Roubaix is 3,000 metres long and rated five stars. This makes it possible to focus on a named section with a clearly stated length and rating. In planning your trip, this offers a distinct focus alongside the heritage sites and views over the plain.

Activities with different requirements

The Aventure-Jeux® “Le mystère de la pierre aux étendards” is a family game for children and young people aged 4 to 14, accompanied by at least one adult. The story follows in the footsteps of knights at the time of the Battle of Mons-en-Pévèle. The accompanying route is approximately 2 kilometres long, accessible on foot and unsuitable for pushchairs. The geocaching route in Mons-en-Pévèle is approximately 5 kilometres long and is also unsuitable for pushchairs; bicycles are not allowed either. So both routes exclude pushchairs, while bicycles are also not permitted on the geocaching route. For Aventure-Jeux, the age range and adult supervision are explicitly part of the participation requirements.

Interactive history and regional cuisine

At the Salle des batailles, the course of the battles is presented interactively, with you taking on the role of a fighter. This format differs from Aventure-Jeux, which centres on a knights' story and a set age range. If you plan to visit the Salle des batailles, check the current access requirements before your visit.

At Estaminet Chez Flavien, regional cuisine is served with a good beer. If you are planning to eat there on a particular day, check the current offering. That way, you can base your search for a holiday rental on what brings you to Mons-En-Pévèle and take the stated requirements for each activity into account when choosing.
