Valley, peaks and townscape

Cierp-Gaud lies at the entrance to a valley through which the Pique flows. The peaks of Pic du Gar frame the town and reach heights of up to 1,785 m. This brings two specific features of the landscape together: the course of the Pique through the valley and the height of the surrounding peaks. Buildings and other named sights add a cultural and historical perspective to this view of the landscape.

Architectural history and sights

Château de Cierp-Gaud was built around 1591. Only the tower remains from the original construction period. Chapelle Soueste was rebuilt in 1843. The dates point to two different building phases: the construction of the château and the rebuilding of the chapel. Other sights in Cierp-Gaud include Tour Montclar and the Roman road. In October 2015, the Cierp-Gaud giant sequoia received the “Arbre Remarquable de France” label.

To reach Chapelle Soueste, take the Michou et Gérard path from the first crossroads at the exit of the Gaud-Dessus district. Check the route and access conditions locally before setting off. This helps you factor the route to the chapel into your visit plans while keeping practical conditions along the way in mind.

Fishing, leisure and water activities

Lac de Rouziet is a small lowland lake in the Garonne Valley. It is used mainly as a tourist fishing course and as a fishing stretch for beginners. Lac de Rouziet also has an adapted HandipĂŞche fishing platform. If you plan to fish at the lake, check the current fishing rules and seasonal access before your visit. The focus on fishing and the adapted platform are specific points to consider when planning.

The Pyrénées Hô adventure and leisure park offers courses among the trees and rocks, as well as a variety of ground-based games for adults, teenagers and children. The giant zip line starts at a height of 60 m and runs 250 m through the park. Check operating conditions before your visit.

Aquavitalité in Cierp-Gaud is a facility for wellbeing, relaxation and fitness, offering various water-based activities. These include aqua fitness, aquabiking and aqua aerobics, as well as a swimming school and swimming lessons. Confirm the activity offerings before your visit. To help you choose, note the different focuses: courses and games at Pyrénées Hô, and water fitness and swimming activities at Aquavitalité.
