Saint-Pierre-Dels-Forcats is one of two access points to the Cambre d’Aze resort, located in the Parc Régional des Pyrénées Catalanes. Alongside activities at the mountain resort, hiking, mountain biking, climbing and the village church offer different focuses for a stay.
Cambre d’Aze: slopes and seasonal activities
The Cambre d’Aze mountain resort offers 23 marked ski runs of all difficulty levels, at elevations of 1,640 to 2,400 metres. Their total length is 22 kilometres. This gives a clear picture of the scope, elevation and designated difficulty levels of the skiing on offer.
Snowshoeing circuits are also available; availability may vary seasonally. There are various ski touring routes, whose conditions and access are subject to seasonal changes. If you plan to make one of these activities the focus of your trip, check the conditions for your intended travel dates.
Hiking and mountain biking
Saint-Pierre-Dels-Forcats offers hiking options for all difficulty levels. Conditions on individual trails may vary. Mountain biking is also possible at all difficulty levels. One specific circuit is the Rec del Moli VTT 22: it starts in the village and is 12.3 kilometres long. It lets you discover the impressive Cirque du Cambre d’Aze from closer up. So, when hiking, you can choose according to difficulty level, or use a named circuit as a reference when cycling.
Bicycle rental is also available along the Route des Pistes. Check local availability if renting a bike is important to your plans.
Climbing and fishing
The climbing crag recognised by the FFME is located on Rue du Général de Gaulle. Climbing there must be accompanied by a mountain guide; check local access and supervision requirements before visiting. Fishing is also one of the leisure activities in Saint-Pierre-Dels-Forcats. The village provides a website and a fishing permit for this; local conditions may change.
Village church and architectural history
The village church has a single-nave layout and dates back to alterations made in the 17th and 18th centuries. Its bell tower was built in the 18th century. After a severe storm in 1877, the masonry campanile was replaced by an iron campanile in 1933. The history of the nave and the later change to the bell tower can therefore be considered as two distinct chapters in the story of the church.
