Rasiguères brings together the landscape around the Tour de Trémoine, its connection to the Maury appellation and the pottery craft of La Poterie du Carbassou. Nature, wine and ceramics offer different ways to explore the area: the circular trail takes in garrigue and viewpoints, while the winery, wine walk and pottery classes each offer their own focus. You can therefore decide which side of Rasiguères best suits your stay.
Tour de Trémoine and the Garrigue
The area around the Tour de Trémoine extends across the communes of Rasiguères and Planèzes and has been subject to a prefectural order protecting its biotope (APPB) since 1991. The protected area is part of the “Basses Corbières” Natura 2000 site.
Access to the Tour de Trémoine biotope perimeter is prohibited from January 15 to June 30. Property owners and their legal successors are exempt for the ongoing maintenance of their property. Check the current prefectural order before setting out on a hike.
The family-friendly “Autour de Trémoine” circular trail passes through rich, fragrant and wild garrigue, loops around the Tour de Trémoine and takes in the Fenouillèdes wine-growing area. From the viewpoints, the panorama stretches across the entire region to the Pyrenees. The route therefore showcases the garrigue, the wine-growing landscape and far-reaching views.
Maury: Appellation and Wine Styles
The Maury appellation also includes Rasiguères and is associated with hills of schist and black marl. The AOP Maury includes white and red wines; depending on how they are made, they may be oxidised or non-oxidised. Wine lovers can therefore choose between wines that differ both in colour and in winemaking style.
The Maury styles “Vendange”, “Récolte” and “Vintage” are aged for at least twelve months. They are described as full-bodied and complex, with notes of black fruit. These three styles offer a specific way to explore the Maury wines described here.
Les Vignerons de Trémoine is a small cooperative winery in Rasiguères, at the upper end of the Vallée de l’Agly. It has been known for the quality of its wines since 1919. Les Passéjade de Trémoine combines a wine walk starting at the winery in Rasiguères with a discovery of the terroir, a wine tasting and a convivial meal with the winemaker. Check dates and availability before making firm plans for this experience. The winery offers guided tours for groups on request; check in advance whether the offer is available on your chosen date.
Pottery Craft in Rasiguères
La Poterie du Carbassou offers pottery classes in Rasiguères. Its ceramics are inspired by the area’s archaeological and traditional heritage, including medieval and Gallo-Roman pottery as well as medieval tiles. Alongside the landscape and wine, the craft offers a distinct way to experience the area. Opening hours are not guaranteed, so check access before your visit.
A Landscape Outing or a Wine Experience?
The difference is clear when choosing an outing: the family-friendly “Autour de Trémoine” circular trail passes through the garrigue and offers views stretching to the Pyrenees, while Les Passéjade de Trémoine combines a wine walk starting at the winery with a tasting and a meal with the winemaker. This lets you weigh up the landscape and far-reaching views against a wine-focused experience, without planning them as the same activity.
