Discover Eyne via trails with different focuses: the Balade Archéologique leads to archaeological sites, an easy interpretation trail combines a loop with themed stops, and longer hikes present different challenges. Your choice therefore depends both on your interests and on how much time you want to set aside for an excursion. The options differ not only in distance, but also in content and elevation profile.
Archaeological Sites Along the Balade
The Balade Archéologique leads to the tomb of El pou, dated to 2200 BC, and also passes the megalithic dolmen of Els Pasquerets. El pou is the route’s destination; Els Pasquerets lies along the way. On the Balade, you’ll encounter two distinct archaeological sites: a tomb with a specific date and a dolmen identified as megalithic. If you choose a tour based on its theme, this route offers two clearly named destinations or stops.
An Easy Loop with Eight Stops
The Prat d’en Sicardo interpretation trail is an easy loop of about four kilometers. It starts at the Vallée d’Eyne Nature Reserve car park, takes approximately 1.5 hours, and has an elevation gain of 100 meters. The loop includes eight themed stops and comes with an educational, playful guidebook. It covers the nature reserve, the landscape, and human activities. This makes it easy to choose the trail based both on the time required and on its subject matter. Seasonal access conditions may vary; check them before your visit.
Pla du Cambre d’Aze: A Longer Hike
The Pla du Cambre d’Aze hiking trail starts at the Eyne 2600 station. It is of moderate difficulty, 6.6 kilometers long, takes about three hours, and has an elevation gain of 340 meters. As an optional out-and-back section, the trail leads to the foot of the cirque at an altitude of 2,350 meters, where you can take in the rock formation. Seasonal access conditions may also vary; check them before setting out.
As Far as Col de Nuria
The Cami de Nuria leads to the Spanish border at Col de Nuria. This makes a named border crossing the destination of this mountain route. Conditions in the mountains may change seasonally; check them before setting out.
A Visit to the Maison de la Vallée
The Maison de la Vallée is open to the public year-round. If you’re planning a visit, check the current opening hours before you travel. This lets you fit the visit into your travel plans without tying it to a particular hike.
Which Hike Fits Your Schedule?
Prat d’en Sicardo and Pla du Cambre d’Aze are easy to compare by the time required: about an hour and a half versus about three hours. They also have different profiles: the Prat is easy, with an elevation gain of 100 meters, while the Pla is of moderate difficulty, with a gain of 340 meters. The comparison therefore covers both duration and elevation gain, as well as the themed stops on the Prat and the optional section to the cirque on the Pla. For an archaeological focus, the Balade leads to El pou and passes the dolmen of Els Pasquerets; the Cami de Nuria offers a different destination, Col de Nuria.
