Villesiscle brings together two different reasons to visit: Château Les Cèdres de Robert, with its wine and seasonal produce, and the “Chemins de Photos” photography festival, held here in 2023. The difference in timing is important for planning: the estate can be visited by prior arrangement, while the winery and photography events took place in earlier years.
Visiting the Château and its connection to wine
At Château Les Cèdres de Robert, visitors can learn about the estate and its products by prior arrangement. Contact them in advance if you would like to include a visit in your stay. The Château was formerly owned by the Dominican Abbey near Prouille and was renamed Les Cèdres de Robert in 2013. Its ownership history and name change concern two distinct historical aspects of the estate. Seasonal produce such as asparagus, red kiwifruit and walnuts can also be found there. A visit therefore offers both a firsthand look at the estate and a connection to its products.
Another wine-related event was “Les jeudis en Malepère”: on Thursdays in July and August 2022, Malepère AOP winegrowers welcomed the public at 18 wineries and wine estates. Château Les Cèdres de Robert in Villesiscle was among the participating venues. The program included tastings, live music and meals on site. This format differed from a visit to an individual estate by prior arrangement: it involved several venues and took place on specific Thursdays in summer 2022. For a current travel period, check the dates of the relevant events.
Photography as a dated cultural program
The cultural program can also be placed clearly in time. As part of the “Chemins de Photos” festival, twelve photo series were installed in public and private locations in Villesiscle in 2023. The program, running from May 27 to June 4, included several photography workshops. The “Night of Photography,” from 6 p.m. to midnight, featured photo and video projections. A walk commenting on the village’s exhibitions was also held at the festival opening. The installations, workshops and projections give an impression of the range of that year’s festival program without making any one format stand for the entire cultural offering.
Distinguishing event dates from visit planning
The seasons and dates of the two event examples answer different planning questions: the winery event took place on Thursdays in July and August 2022, while the photography events ran from late May to early June 2023. These are past programs, not dates for a future trip. If an event is to be the reason for your visit, check the dates for your travel period. At the Château, by contrast, arranging your visit in advance is the specific step you can plan for. Seasonal produce such as asparagus, red kiwifruit and walnuts adds another seasonal aspect to the connection with wine.
