Ferrals-les-Corbières combines an in-depth street art visit with an easy circular hike and other ways to make art, wine and nature the focus of your stay. The activities offer different thematic highlights: alongside a visit to the gallery, you can choose a graffiti workshop, fishing at the fishing lake and wine tastings.
Experience street art in three buildings
SPIKTRI Street Art Universe is located at 25 Avenue des Vignerons, 11200 Ferrals-les-Corbières. Check the address before setting out. The exhibition is housed in a former wine cooperative cellar and features more than 2,500 artworks along a 2.5-kilometre gallery. You can see graffiti, paintings and sculptures.
A full visit takes you through three buildings and 18 planets conceived by the artist. You should allow around two and a half hours on average. The visit format may change, so check the current arrangements in advance. This lets you plan the art visit as a dedicated activity rather than treating it as a quick stop.
If you would like to get creative yourself, consider a two-hour graffiti workshop. It covers the history of graffiti, developing your own ideas, materials and technical basics, as well as creating your own artwork. Workshop availability and conditions may change; check them before planning your visit around a workshop.
Children are also catered for: the visit includes a puzzle booklet for children that is renewed annually and is suitable from age six. The puzzle booklet and workshop offer different ways to engage with graffiti—one as part of the visit, the other through hands-on creative work.
Hiking the Boucle du Lauza
As an alternative to an art visit, the easy La Boucle du Lauza circular hike starts in Ferrals-les-Corbières. It is 7.3 kilometres long and takes around two hours on average. Along the route are dry-stone walls and terraces, as well as wild or cultivated fruit trees and vineyards. This gives the hike a different focus from the gallery: rather than artworks and indoor spaces, the route is shaped by features of the landscape.
The route also includes a viewpoint beside an orientation board. The distance and duration help you estimate the time needed for the hike as a separate activity; the duration is an average. If you are weighing up the hike against a full SPIKTRI visit, you can compare two clearly distinct activities: around two hours for the hike and an average of two and a half hours for the art visit.
Fishing and wine tastings
For trout anglers, Amicale Ferralaise de Pêche welcomes visitors to the Ferrals fishing lake. Fishing adds a waterside activity to the options, while the hike combines movement with views of the landscape.
Another option is wine tastings at Orfée – Cave de Graffan. The wines on offer include those from the AOC Corbières and Corbières Boutenac appellations. This puts two specific wine appellations in the spotlight alongside the cultural and natural attractions. Fishing, hiking and wine tasting appeal to different interests; you can choose Ferrals-les-Corbières according to which of these experiences you want to shape your stay.
Plan a stay that suits you
When planning your overnight stay, it is worth deciding first which activity you want to do and how much time it requires. A full visit to SPIKTRI Street Art Universe, a workshop and the hike are distinct, manageable activities, each taking around two to two and a half hours. Check workshop availability and the current visit arrangements in advance. If you are more interested in landscape and exercise, La Boucle du Lauza offers an easy hike; for art, the gallery and workshop offer different ways to engage with it.
Wine tastings and a visit to the fishing lake also offer their own highlights. Choose based on the kind of stay you actually want to plan.
