Bray-Et-Lû lies in the Epte Valley. The Voie verte de la vallée de l’Epte, the “V2 – Autour du marais” circular walk, Notre-Dame, and the Moulin de Pont Rû showcase different natural and cultural highlights.

Routes in the Epte Valley

The Voie verte de la vallée de l’Epte runs for 28 kilometres through the valley, alongside the river meadows. It is suitable for running, walking, roller skating, and cycling, and is also accessible to wheelchair users. These stated activities cover different ways of getting around; the route’s length also provides a concrete measure to help with your own planning. The “V2 – Autour du marais” circular walk offers a different focus: it passes through Bray-et-Lû and then returns to the car park. A viewpoint overlooking the Epte Valley adds a clear landscape destination to the circular route. If cycling or roller skating is your priority, the Voie verte offers the stated activities; for a circular walk through the village with a viewpoint, V2 is the more suitable option.

Limestone at Côte de Baudemont

A rare outcrop of Vigny limestone is exposed at Côte de Baudemont. The rock was once extracted from an underground quarry. Here, two perspectives from different periods come together: the limestone is exposed today, while its extraction is part of the area’s former use. The geological perspective complements the routes and valley themes with a tangible trace of the landscape’s history and of raw-material extraction.

Notre-Dame: architectural style and history

The present-day Notre-Dame church was built in the Romanesque-Gothic style. It was constructed between 1877 and 1881 from ashlar sourced from the quarries of Saint-Gervais, replacing a 12th-century building. The construction dates place the present church in the late 19th century, while its predecessor dates back to the Middle Ages. The church tower features four zinc pyramidions donated by the Vieille Montagne factory. The style, source of the materials, and history of the building it replaced are among the different aspects that define Notre-Dame. Romanesque-Gothic describes a combination of Romanesque and Gothic architectural forms.

The Moulin de Pont Rû

The Moulin de Pont Rû was converted into a sawmill in the 20th century. Since 2018, it has been home to an ecological and social third place established by the Association du Moulin de Pont Rû. These two stages tell the story of the mill’s different uses: its conversion into a sawmill, followed later by the creation of the social and ecological space. Its programme may change, however. If you plan to visit the mill as a specific activity, check the current programme in advance.
