Ury reveals itself through three distinct features: the medieval Église Saint-Martin, farm produce from the Ferme des Moënes and the Boucle équestre du Gâtinais. For visitors, these offer different perspectives on the village: architecture, seasonal produce and an equestrian route that reaches and loops around the village. Choosing what to focus on during your stay lets you distinguish between a visit to the church, regional produce and the route’s course.

The Église Saint-Martin and its building history

The main building phase of the Église Saint-Martin dates to the Middle Ages. The church has been protected as a historic monument by decree dated 14 April 1926. It thus brings together two points in time: its medieval building history and a formal protection decision from the 20th century.

The church’s exterior can also be described in specific terms. It is visible from the path. Its square bell tower has four corner gargoyles, and a cornice with crenellated ornamentation completes its silhouette. The gargoyles are set at the tower’s corners, while the ornamentation runs along the cornice—two distinct architectural elements that define the building’s form.

Produce from the Ferme des Moënes

The Garces family has been producing food at the Ferme des Moënes for three generations. Their crops include seasonal organic vegetables and red fruits. The farm also raises free-range poultry, including chickens, guinea fowl, roosters and festive poultry. Its other products include jams, syrups, juices, soups, rillettes and ready-made meals. Seasonal produce is thus offered alongside processed products; the selection and poultry offering may vary with the season.

The Ferme des Moënes stall is open on Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. in the forecourt of Bois-le-Roi station, on Transilien Line R. If you plan to visit this weekly stall, check the current schedule, as times may change.

The Boucle équestre du Gâtinais

The equestrian route reaches Ury after crossing the motorway via a wide bridge. In the village, it loops around the settlement and runs behind the cemetery. Beyond Ury, it follows the edge of the Fontainebleau Forest: first alongside fields, then through wooded areas.

For orientation, hitching rails for six horses are indicated near the cemetery. Hitching rails for six horses are also indicated on Chemin des Vergers. These two named locations can therefore be considered separately; check their condition on site.

Another equestrian offering to compare

Des Sabots dans la forêt follows a different itinerary: it includes 30 minutes of horse preparation, with a warm-up and safety briefing, followed by a 1.5-hour ride in the Fontainebleau Forest and, on return, caring for the horse. The stated time slots add up to two hours, before the subsequent horse care. This makes it possible to distinguish the ride, which has a set schedule, from the Boucle, whose description focuses mainly on its route around Ury and the succession of landscapes beyond the village.
