Lieusaint combines wildlife watching with culture and local history. At the Bassin de La Motte, long boardwalks and an ornithological observation point with sweeping panoramic views are part of this protected natural area. Elsewhere, you can discover a former washhouse, a historic road, public art and a varied events programme. This allows you to plan your stay around the themes that interest you most.
Nature and walking routes in Lieusaint
The Bassin de La Motte is a protected natural area. Its long boardwalks and observation point make it a place to visit for anyone interested in landscapes and birdwatching. The ornithological observation point offers sweeping panoramic views. This nature experience combines a specific vantage point with the opportunity to observe birds and their surroundings.
At the Ru des Hauldres, the focus is on the flora and fauna of a 30-hectare area. The Espace naturel de la Motte also tells a story of landscape change: it is located in the former basin of the Lieusaint sugar factory and is now home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Those interested in nature and its different forms will find other places to explore here, in addition to the protected Bassin.
For a longer outing, there is a 17-kilometre circular route between Lieusaint and Moissy-Cramayel. It is described as easy and almost flat, suitable for children, and runs almost entirely along greenways and cycle paths. The Canal des Allées d’Ormoy offers a different way to spend time outdoors and is suitable for fishing and walking. The circular route and the canal therefore offer different activities without requiring the same type of route.
History, art and culture
Rue de Paris was a Roman road linking Auxerre with Rouen; today it is one of Lieusaint’s main thoroughfares. The Lavoir Saint-Quintien adds another historical perspective: the washhouse was built between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The mural “Yuli” by David Walker is also located at 75 rue de Paris. It is dated May 2017 and inspired by the town’s logo.
The Médiathèque Côté Cour welcomes visitors year-round in a completely renovated former farmhouse. The building adjoins the Maison des Cultures et des Arts. Here, the building’s former agricultural use meets its present-day role as a cultural venue, while the mural and washhouse reveal other facets of the area.
The Théâtre-Sénart offers theatre, circus, dance and music events, as well as programmes for young audiences. It is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility; the auditorium has reserved seating, and lifts serve all levels. If you would like to plan your visit around an event, check the latest information before travelling.
Koezio Sénart offers another kind of experience: this immersive adventure park in Lieusaint has unusual indoor activities for teams. Since you should check whether activities are available before your trip, it is best to consult the latest visitor information before planning your stay around a visit.
