The Church of Saint-Médard stands in the centre of Boutigny and dates from the 15th century. Its history includes two destructions during the Wars of Religion: it was partially destroyed in 1560 and 1595, then rebuilt. This places its origins and the later events of the 16th century side by side.
Saint-Médard: Building History and Architecture
The building’s design also offers a tangible point of interest: the nave has a rib vault, a vault whose ribs cross one another. The side aisles are decorated with floral motifs. This brings together two distinct features inside the church: the vault’s construction and the ornamental design of the side aisles.
The Chapel and Washhouse in Magny-Saint-Loup
The history of the Chapel of Saint-Leu spans several building phases. The first chapel on this site was built in 1211; the present chapel was commissioned by the Dumont family in 1910. The two dates therefore refer to different buildings at the same location. Alongside this building history, a religious tradition is also part of the historical story: the cult of Saint-Leu in the Brie was associated with an annual pilgrimage to Magny on 1 September.
The washhouse on Rue de Crécy in Magny-Saint-Loup has a different architectural form. It dates from the 19th century and was renovated in 2007. Its square floor plan, three-sided wooden roof structure and central basin give the building a clear spatial layout. Unlike the churches, the focus here is on the floor plan and structure; the dates of construction and renovation place the building in time.
A Walk Around Magny-Saint-Loup
The circular route “Boucle autour de Magny-Saint-Loup” is described as 18 kilometres long and taking five hours. Together, the distance and duration provide a concrete basis for planning the walk. Route details may change, so check the information before setting out. This will help you decide whether the time required fits your stay, without combining the walk with other destinations into a fixed itinerary.
Golf and Restaurant
Another activity is offered at Golf de Meaux-Boutigny, with its 18-hole Le Noyer course. If golf is one of your interests, you can consider it as a separate focus of your trip. Golf lessons are available to participants aged 4 to 99. Availability and conditions may change; check the current options in advance if lessons are important to your plans.
Golf de Meaux-Boutigny also includes the Le Barrois restaurant. If you would like to include it in your meal plans, check the current information in advance, as restaurant offerings may change. The golf course and restaurant therefore offer two distinct points of interest: a sporting activity and a place to enjoy a meal.
Château de Bélou on the Edge of Prévilliers
Château de Bélou also offers a tangible connection to the area’s architectural history: it lies on the edge of Prévilliers, and its façade is listed as a historic monument. The listing applies to the façade. Alongside Saint-Médard, the Chapel of Saint-Leu and the washhouse, this provides a range of historical topics without requiring the individual places to be combined into a single visiting route.
