Boulogne-Billancourt offers several distinct cultural themes: photographic and film collections, sculpture, 1930s architecture and the town’s industrial history. There are also two different park landscapes and cultural and walking areas on Île Seguin. When planning your visit, you can choose a focus that suits your interests.

Museums: from photography to sculpture

The Musée départemental Albert-Kahn preserves the Archives de la Planète from 1909 to 1931, as well as unique photographic and film collections. The museum garden includes a Japanese village created in 1897 by carpenters who had travelled all the way from Japan. Recreated Japanese landscapes, domestic architecture, Asian plants and references to sacred places shape the garden’s theme. The collection and garden thus offer different perspectives: on visual documents, on the one hand, and designed landscapes, on the other.

The Musée Paul Belmondo in Château Buchillot displays sculptures, medals and drawings by Paul Belmondo. The collection includes 263 sculptures and casts, 452 medals and preparatory works, and 966 drawings. If specific collection groups are important to your plans, please check the latest collection information. The Musée Paul Landowski, in turn, presents a themed exhibition of plaster, marble and bronze sculptures from the sculptor’s work. Together, the two museums offer different perspectives on sculpture.

The Musée des Années 30 focuses on works by painters, sculptors, ceramicists, interior and furniture designers, architects, industrialists and filmmakers associated with the 1930s. Its view of the period is therefore not limited to architecture, but spans a range of artistic and design fields.

1930s architecture

The Lipchitz-Miestchaninoff studio houses connect a specific building history with this architectural theme. Sculptors Jacques Lipchitz and Oscar Miestchaninoff commissioned the houses from Le Corbusier and his cousin Pierre Jeanneret. The façades and roofs have been listed as historic monuments since 1975. The houses are privately owned—a key restriction to bear in mind if you are including them in your visit plans.

The 1930s Walk also offers three different routes through Boulogne-Billancourt for exploring the architecture of the period. They showcase the diversity and richness of 1930s architecture. The routes complement the works and design fields featured at the Musée des Années 30 with a distinct architectural perspective.

Île Seguin: culture and the site’s history

On ĂŽle Seguin, La Seine Musicale combines concert, exhibition and walking areas with restaurants and shops focused on art and culture. There is more on offer than just one cultural activity, but you should check specific events separately for your travel dates.

The Pavillon des projets explores the site’s industrial past and more recent development. Its permanent exhibition covers the history of the Renault factories, which were based in Boulogne-Billancourt throughout the 20th century, as well as the site’s transformation into an eco-district, which began in 2004. The pavilion also hosts conferences, guided tours and workshops on these topics. If you are planning your trip around a tour, workshop or particular exhibition content, please check the current programme and exhibition information in advance.

The Pavillon des projets can be reached by tram line T2 from the Brimborion stop and by metro line 9 from Pont de Sèvres station. As public transport information can change, check current routes before travelling.

Two different park landscapes

The Parc départemental Gauthier-Mougin on Île Seguin combines a fully renatured landscape with sloping meadows, sheltered woodland, redesigned banks, car-free paths and more than 800 planted trees. The park opened to the public on 31 January 2026; check current access conditions before your visit. It also features an open-air art trail of around twenty works, extending between Pointe des Arts, the park and the area around La Seine Musicale.

The 15-hectare Parc Edmond-de-Rothschild lies between the Seine and the Bois de Boulogne. Its varied garden features include an area planted with yew trees, a small pond with a red footbridge and a Japanese garden. The two parks therefore have different points of emphasis: Parc Gauthier-Mougin centres on renaturing, car-free paths and outdoor art, while Parc Edmond-de-Rothschild is defined by its size and named garden areas. This comparison can help you include green spaces in your travel plans according to your interests.
