Plage de Doucier lies on the shore of Lac de Chalain, the largest natural lake in the Jura. This gives Doucier a clear focal point by the water, but a stay need not be limited to the beach: Doucier also offers routes, adventure courses and access to the Cascades du Hérisson. If you are looking for a hotel in Doucier, first consider whether you want to focus on the lake, a route or another outing.

Lakeshore, beach and routes

The Tour du Lac de Chalain provides access to the Belvédère de Doucier, a viewpoint 850 metres—or 10 minutes—away; the route also leads to Plage de Doucier. This tour therefore has two distinct destinations: a viewpoint and the beach. You can give these stops different priorities when planning.

The Tour du Lac de Chalain–19R route follows a large loop through woodland around Lac de Chalain and through Doucier. This offers a different focus from the individual destinations on the Tour du Lac: here, the loop and woodland landscape shape your route choice. As routes may change, check the current route before setting out.

Water and practical information

Pedal boats, paddleboards and canoes can be rented at Plage de Doucier. Rental options may vary by season. If a particular rental option is essential to your trip, check availability in advance. There are three mostly shaded parking areas on the Doucier lakeshore grounds, with around 700 spaces in total. This approximate capacity refers to all three areas combined. Parking arrangements and restrictions may change, so check the current conditions for your visit. The parking areas are mostly shaded, but you should not assume that every individual space is shaded.

More activities and places to visit

Doucier Aventure offers eight adventure courses with continuous belay lines and more than 1,000 metres of ziplines. Unlike the routes by the lake, the focus here is on courses and ziplines. Operating periods may vary by season, so take this into account if you are planning your visit in advance. The Cascades du Hérisson are also accessible from Doucier. Check local access conditions before your visit. The practical considerations differ: seasonal operating periods matter for Doucier Aventure, while local access is relevant for the Cascades. The belay lines are part of the courses, and the distance in metres refers to the ziplines; this clearly distinguishes the two parts of the offering.
