Propriano offers several specific attractions for a stay: the Marché des Producteurs, the Church of Notre-Dame de la Miséricorde, a trail at Capu Laurosu and activities on the water. Which days you choose may depend on whether you want to take market hours or an event date into account. When deciding what to include, you can choose whether to focus on architecture, produce and crafts, outdoor activities or water activities.

Market hours, local produce and crafts

The Marché des Producteurs de Propriano takes place on Wednesdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; check the hours again seasonally. It offers seasonal fruit and vegetables, cheese, cured meats, honey, olive oil and traditional baked goods, as well as regional products and handcrafted goods. The selection may vary. Visitors can meet local producers, craftspeople and creative professionals and learn about their work.

The market brings together a range of interests rather than focusing on a single product category: you can discover the seasonal selection while also meeting the people represented there as producers, craftspeople or creative professionals. If you plan to visit the market, choose one of the two mornings mentioned and keep in mind that the selection changes with the seasons.

Church of Notre-Dame de la Miséricorde and views of the gulf

The Church of Notre-Dame de la Miséricorde in Propriano was built between 1868 and 1881. Its single-nave interior has a barrel vault with lunettes; it also has side barrel vaults with semicircular arches and a similarly vaulted choir. The bell tower features open sound openings, a lantern and a polygonal dome. The construction dates and individual architectural features offer specific points of reference if you are interested in the church’s architecture.

The square by the church is also a landmark in its own right: from there, you can enjoy panoramic views across the entire Gulf of Valinco. Architecture and views are therefore two distinct aspects to consider when planning a visit to this place.

Events and dates that vary

During the seasonal event Les soirées piétonnes, Propriano’s town centre is reserved entirely for pedestrians. Specific traffic arrangements may vary with each edition. The Saint Erasme Fishermen’s Festival in Propriano includes a Mass and a procession through the town on June 2. Check the event dates and programme before travelling if you want to include one of these occasions in your plans.

Trails, coves and water activities

The trail at Capu Laurosu is flat and shaded, and is suitable for walking, running, cycling and riding a scooter. These activities differ markedly from the water activities available locally: the coves at Capu Laurosu are suitable for snorkelling. This lets you choose between different kinds of exercise and outdoor experiences.

Propriano Plongée offers snorkelling, introductory dives, training courses and underwater explorations from Propriano, at Mancinu Beach; seasonal availability may vary. Propriano Promenade en Mer, at Quai l’Herminier, offers swimming stops in unspoilt coves. Routes and availability may vary. There are therefore different water activities to choose from: snorkelling in the coves, activities with Propriano Plongée or swimming stops with Propriano Promenade en Mer. Check availability when planning your trip if one of these activities is important for your chosen dates.
