A bell in the Église Saint-Sébastien already belonged to an earlier chapel. Les Croûtes also offers horse-riding activities and a picnic area with nearby parking and a water point. When looking for a holiday rental, you can consider whether cultural heritage, horse-riding activities or a picnic stop should shape your stay.

The Église Saint-Sébastien and its history

The Église Saint-Sébastien replaced a 14th-century chapel that had been destroyed by fire at the beginning of the 19th century. The church was built in 1861. Its bell tower houses a bell cast at the beginning of the 14th century, which belonged to the earlier chapel. This creates a tangible historical connection between the 19th-century building and an object from the time of its predecessor chapel.

The church can be visited during the European Heritage Days. If you would like to visit, plan your visit as part of this programme and check the dates for the relevant edition.

Horse-riding activities in Les Croûtes

The Centre équestre d'Idoine offers riding lessons in show jumping, dressage and recreational riding, as well as trail rides. Numerous riding trails start at the centre. It is also possible to discover Mountain Trail there. This gives horse-riding enthusiasts a range of options: lessons are offered in three disciplines, alongside trail rides and Mountain Trail as additional activities. If you are looking for lessons, you can compare the disciplines; if you are considering a trail ride, the routes starting at the centre provide a direct link to this activity.

Natural surroundings and a picnic break

The municipality is part of the ZNIEFF Type I “Prairies de la vallée de l'Armance d'Ervy-le-Châtel à Saint-Florentin”. In the wider regional context, almost sixty bird species have been recorded in the Armance Valley. The area’s natural appeal therefore ranges from the named inventory site to the valley’s birdlife.

There is a picnic area in Les Croûtes for a picnic stop. Nearby parking and a water point are practical details you can take into account when planning your day.

Walking and an event

For the August 2026 edition, the comité des fêtes organised the event “Vide-grenier et randonnée”. The associated walk included two routes of approximately 8 and 15 km. The different distances allow you to compare the routes by length. The same edition also included regional products, as well as food and refreshments on site. If you would like to combine a future trip with an event date, check the relevant announcement in advance. “Vide-grenier” means flea market and “randonnée” means walk. The French title therefore combines a market and a walk; the approximate route distances apply to the walk in this August 2026 edition.
