Olizy-Primat combines wildlife and forest landscapes with a 16th-century church and regional beekeeping. Parc Argonne Découverte is located in the heart of the Argonne Forest in Olizy-Primat, in the Ardennes. This gives you a choice of different focal points for your stay: wildlife and care, a reserved hands-on programme, a forest pond, village history or a visit to the honey farm. If you are looking for a holiday rental, considering the purpose of your trip can help you decide: would you like to plan a particular activity or focus on nature and culture?

Wildlife and Animal Care

Parc Argonne Découverte is now home to more than 50 animal species. The Centre de Soins de la Faune Sauvage de l’Argonne, located in the same park, takes in injured or weakened animals, nurses them back to health and then releases them back into the wild. So, alongside the animal species, the area's nature theme also includes animal care and rehabilitation. A play area with the Hamac à Bonds and a playground adds a dedicated leisure option to these features.

A Reserved Animal Programme

Those who would like to learn more about animal care can plan “Devenez animalier d'un jour” as a separate activity. Participants prepare food portions and feed wolves, raccoons, parrots, bats and reptiles, among other animals. The activity lasts 3 to 3.5 hours and is available by advance reservation only. In the afternoon, participants can explore Parc Argonne Découverte at their leisure and take part in the activities there. As programme details and booking arrangements may change, check them before making a reservation.

Forest Landscapes and a Pond

The Sentier de la Demoiselle offers a different perspective on nature: it lets visitors explore the Étang de la Demoiselle, which is set in the forest. This makes a forest pond another specific landscape to enjoy, alongside wildlife and animal care at the park.

Village Church and History

Église Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens stands in the southern part of the village of Olizy-Primat, in an area called La petite ville or La Ferté. The church dates from the 16th century and was listed as a historic monument in 1913. These dates refer to different things: the century places the church in its historical context, while 1913 marks its later designation as a monument.

Beekeeping and Photography

La Miellerie Jacques CARON offers honey, “miellidous” spreads and pollen from its own beehives. Visits are possible by prior appointment; the honey farm offers guided tours on request. Arrange a suitable time in advance if you would like to include a visit in your stay.

Another activity in Olizy-Primat is “Instant photo au Parc Argonne Découverte”, an introductory photography session. Availability and participation requirements may change; check them before making firm plans to take part.
