Boismorand combines a wooded setting with ponds, the Gothic Église Saint-Vrain and the Circuit du Petit Bois. Here, landscape, local history and activity come together. If you are looking for accommodation in Boismorand, you can compare what you would like to focus on during your stay: time in the countryside, an interest in historical details or a marked walking route. This selection can help you choose how to experience the area based on the purpose of your trip.

Forest and ponds

Boismorand is set in a wooded area with ponds, on the edge of the Forêt domaniale d’Orléans. Surrounded by waterways and forests, the area offers a setting for picnics and relaxation. If you would like to set aside time during your trip for a picnic or to relax outdoors, this landscape is a specific factor to consider when choosing your destination.

Église Saint-Vrain and Château Cormont

Église Saint-Vrain is the Gothic church of Boismorand. Its surviving choir was completed on 3 September 1549 and partially listed as a historic monument by order dated 12 January 1931. These dates mark different events: the completion of the choir and its partial listing. The church can therefore be viewed both in terms of its Gothic style and its specific building and heritage-protection history. In church architecture, “choir” refers to the liturgically oriented part of a church. The completion date thus applies to this section of the building, not to the entire Église Saint-Vrain in Boismorand.

On a wall of Église Saint-Vrain is a sundial donated by the Danjou family in 1665. The church also houses the oldest bell in the Giennois: it is called “Anne” and dates from 1669. The sundial and bell date two items of church fittings four years apart.

Château Cormont also forms part of Boismorand’s historical character. It is privately owned; its origins are traced to an ancient Gallo-Roman fortress. Unlike the dated building elements and fittings of the church, this historical classification concerns the origins of the château.

Walks and getting there

The Circuit du Petit Bois offers a specific walking option. A route description updated on 23 December 2024 calls it an easy circular walk, 5.9 kilometres long and taking 1 hour 30 minutes. Together, the distance and duration provide a time and distance framework for this circular route. The walking time helps you plan the walk as a separate activity.

Boismorand can be reached by car via the A77, D940 and D2007. Check road conditions before setting off.
