A 1.5-kilometre public educational trail with raised wooden boardwalks runs through the Tourbière des Froux in Manou. Covering 8.52 hectares, the site includes a wooded acidic bog and a peat heath. The landscape gives a visit to the area a clear focus on nature, while the specific route length helps you factor the walk into your plans. If you are interested in bog and heathland landscapes, Manou offers a clear starting point here. A peat heath is heathland on peaty ground and complements the wooded acidic bog as a distinct habitat type.

Bog and other habitats

The Tourbière des Froux will be closed to the public from late August to October 2026 for improvement works. Before travelling, check whether the closure is still in effect on your planned visit date.

Les Robichonneries lies on the western edge of the Senonches Forest in the Perche Regional Natural Park. The site includes an oligotrophic wet meadow, tall-herb vegetation and a woodland pond. Oligotrophic means nutrient-poor and describes the wet meadow here; tall-herb vegetation is characterised by tall herbaceous plants. These habitats give it a different natural character from the bog and peat heath at the Tourbière des Froux.

Rare species such as the orchid Orchis négligé and the butterfly Nacré de la sanguisorbe can be observed at Les Robichonneries. Both are classified as endangered on the regional Red List. However, the possibility of observing these species is not a guarantee of a sighting.

The private status of the site is important for visitors: Les Robichonneries is not open for independent visits, but guided tours are possible. If you plan to visit, check whether a guided tour is available on your chosen date. The two natural sites therefore differ both in their habitats and in how they can be visited: Froux has a public educational trail, while visits to Les Robichonneries are possible by guided tour.

Historic structures and fishing

The La Renardière complex includes the Sainte-Apolline Chapel, the floors and walls of the former lower courtyard, and the façades and roofs of the last buildings constructed by the Hospitaller Order in the 18th century. The historical story therefore extends beyond the chapel: the former courtyard features and the Order’s architecture are also part of the complex. This provides a focus on built heritage for culture enthusiasts, alongside Manou’s natural areas.

Fishing is possible at Manou’s municipal pond. Local fishing regulations may change, so if fishing is part of your plans, check the conditions in advance. This gives Manou another leisure option in addition to its natural and historical attractions.
