On the banks of the Eure, La Chaussée-D'ivry and the hamlets of Nantilly and Les Gâtines Rouges are nestled amid a well-preserved natural heritage. Several clearly distinct interests come together here for a break: the history of Église Saint-Blaise, nature walks, hiking and cycling routes, golf, and seasonal produce grown locally. So choosing where to visit need not depend on a single highlight. What matters is whether you would like to focus on nature, cultural history or outdoor activities; the villages and trails offer different ways to do so.

Nature along the Eure and at Côte de Nantilly

Côte de Nantilly is designated a Natura 2000 site and is distinguished by its exceptionally diverse vegetation. It is well suited to nature walks for people interested in flora and fauna, as well as for families. While the banks of the Eure define the landscape around the villages, the Côte is a specific natural highlight, with its diverse vegetation and walking routes.

Église Saint-Blaise: history and heritage protection

Église Saint-Blaise offers a historical anchor for the village's past. Its origins date mainly to the 13th century; it was first mentioned in 1215. These dates refer to different things: 1215 is the year of its first mention, not necessarily the year it was built. Since July 13, 1926, the bell tower and stair tower have been partially protected as historic monuments; this applies to the two named structures, not broadly to the entire church building.

Hiking and cycling routes

For outdoor activities, you can choose between a hiking route and a cycling route, with clearly different distances. The “La Chaussée-d'Ivry – Le cheval blanc” loop is 6.7 kilometers long and starts at the church car park. This starting point connects route planning with Église Saint-Blaise, which is also a cultural and historical highlight in its own right. Check the hiking route details again before setting off. The “Découverte d'Anet, La Chaussée d'Ivry, Guainville, Gilles et Oulins” cycling route is 25 kilometers long. From La Chaussée-d'Ivry towards Oulins, it follows a cycle path. So the comparison is about more than 6.7 versus 25 kilometers: it also involves two different kinds of activity—a walking loop and a longer cycling route that includes a section towards Oulins.

Golf and seasonal produce

Golf Parc Robert Hersant offers another focus. The course is open for play all year round and is set among bodies of water surrounded by, or overlooked by, hills covered with deciduous trees. This offers a different experience from the two routes: here, the focus is on golf and the landscape of water and wooded hills. Ferme des Gâtines Rouges offers a local culinary connection. It sells fresh, home-grown vegetables directly on site and offers seasonal, locally grown produce. The timing is different for each: golf can be played year-round, while agricultural produce is seasonal.
