Arrou brings together the architectural history of Saint-Lubin Church, recurring performances and leisure activities. Culture, games and outdoor activities offer different points of interest; when planning, the main things to consider are event dates, trail lengths and specific access conditions.
Saint-Lubin: Two Building Phases
Two building phases can be distinguished at Saint-Lubin Church. The choir, nave and Romanesque portal were built from Grison stone in the 12th century. The side aisles and Gothic gables date from the 15th century and were built from limestone. The phases therefore differ both in date and in the materials used. The church also contains a large contemporary organ dating from 2006, with around 30 stops. At Saint-Lubin, medieval architectural details and a much newer musical instrument thus offer different points of interest for culture-loving travellers.
Recurring Events and Bois Ruffin
The Troubadours de la Joie stage three theatre performances in Arrou every year in February; the exact dates may vary. The group also holds an annual event on 1 May in the heart of the Bois Ruffin forest in Arrou; the specific programme may vary. These two recurring events therefore take place at different times of year: theatre in February and the forest event on 1 May. Check the exact dates and programme if you are planning to attend either event. Bois Ruffin is a green woodland area in the middle of the plain, with varied vegetation.
Leisure Activities in Arrou
Parc André GUILLAUMIN, behind the town hall, has a nine-hole mini golf course that is open to everyone. The Zone de loisirs d'Arrou has picnic tables, a playground and a boules court. The site also includes a beach and supervised swimming in the pond. However, swimming is closed to the public until the end of the 2026 season. Check the current status of the facilities and access to the swimming area before your visit.
Fishing Waters and Fishing Stretch
Fishing waters associated with Arrou include Le Pont Foulon, a 9 ha body of water. A designated fishing stretch runs from Pont Richard for 500 m downstream along the left bank. At Le Pont Foulon, the body of water is named; for the stretch at Pont Richard, the bank and direction of the river provide the reference points. Check the applicable rules and access conditions before fishing.
Walking and Horse-Riding Trails
Vald'Yerre has two walking trails of different lengths, both rated easy: “Arrou, aux portes du Perche Gouet” is 5.5 km long, while “Le Bois Ruffin” is 23.0 km long. Those choosing by distance therefore have a much shorter and a longer option with the same difficulty rating. Check local conditions before setting out.
The 35 km horse-riding route “Plaine et vallée de l’Yèvre” passes through varied landscapes between the hills of the Perche and the Beauce plain. It is better suited to experienced riders. It therefore differs from the trails rated easy both in the mode of travel and in the stated experience level.
