Nançay lies in the heart of the Sologne. At the Pôle des Étoiles, you can visit the permanent exhibition “Les sciences de l'Univers”; the Pôle is also the only planetarium in the Centre-Val de Loire region. This provides a clear point of interest for planning a trip: the exhibition title identifies the subject, while the planetarium’s regional distinction establishes Nançay as a destination for astronomy. If you are considering Nançay for a stay, you can start with this clearly defined focus.
Getting to the Observatoire Radioastronomique
You can reach the grounds of the Observatoire Radioastronomique de Nançay via the A71, Salbris exit. From there, follow the D944 towards Bourges, then in Nançay take the D29 towards Souesmes. Check road conditions before setting out.
Art, architecture and local connections
Galerie Capazza has a small room dedicated to Alain Fournier, who was born in the region. This dedication connects the gallery with a named local figure and gives its cultural offering a concrete local connection. When choosing cultural interests, this provides a different point of reference from the astronomy at the Pôle des Étoiles.
Saint-Laurian Church features a remarkable oak vault and a mural. The vault draws attention to the building’s design, while the painting highlights its visual decoration. If you choose cultural experiences based not only on subject matter but also on specific features, you will find two distinct points of interest here: architecture and mural painting. This interest in architectural and visual design differs from the dedication at Galerie Capazza.
Leisure activities with different focuses
Set in several hectares of woodland, Aventure Parc offers more than 80 treetop games. There are also two paintball fields and a catapult attraction that launches participants more than 20 metres into the air. This means there are numerous treetop games alongside two clearly defined types of activity. If you plan to visit the park, you can choose from these different offerings. Check opening times before travelling.
At Golf des Étoiles NANCAY SOLOGNE, the course winds through woodland lined with ponds, in surroundings where biodiversity flourishes. This offers a different kind of leisure activity alongside the treetop games. Check playing conditions and opening periods before a round.
The history of Sablés de Nançay
Sablés de Nançay offer another perspective on the Sologne. They originated in 1953 in a Sologne village, following a recipe mishap; their artisanal production, rooted in family tradition, has been preserved for more than 60 years. Their origin and production tradition are distinct aspects: the recipe mishap is part of their origin story, while the family craftsmanship is part of their traditional production. Groups are welcomed in person to learn about the history of the Sablés and gain insights into the secrets of their production. Prior arrangements may be required.
