Saint-Usuge brings together several distinct travel interests: the three-hectare Étang Crépeau, walking trails through bocage hedgerow landscapes, the Seille and collections of bicycles and dolls. When choosing your stay, you can start with a simple question: should nature and outdoor activities be the main focus, or would you also like to include cultural attractions? You can give the local attractions different weight according to your interests.

Water and fishing

Étang Crépeau is in Saint-Usuge and covers three hectares. A no-kill rule applies at the pond: caught largemouth bass must be released. The rule applies to this fish species and this pond. Fishing is permitted there for members of the approved AAPPMA associations in Saône-et-Loire, as well as anglers with a fishing licence and one of the CHI, EHGO or URNE stamps. As fishing regulations can change, check the current requirements before fishing.

The Seille also runs through Saint-Usuge; the river is popular with anglers. The pond and the river therefore offer different fishing experiences: at Étang Crépeau there is a specific requirement to release largemouth bass, while the Seille is described as a river popular with anglers.

Walking trails and landscape

The Circuit du Bois Quillard (SU1) is a 7.5-kilometre walking trail in Saint-Usuge. The route is listed as taking two hours. The actual duration depends on conditions and walking pace, so use this time as a guide when planning your day. Check the trail information again before your trip.

Saint-Usuge’s walking trails also let you discover a remarkable network of bocage hedgerows. If you want to compare a specific route and timeframe, you can use the Circuit as a guide. If you are mainly interested in the character of the landscape, the bocage network is a particular highlight of the walking trails. This makes a clearly measured hike and the hedgerow landscape two distinct aspects of an outdoor trip.

Collections of bicycles and dolls

The Musée du Vélo displays bicycles, equipment from past eras, champions’ jerseys, video montages featuring archival footage and a portrait gallery. The collection offers different perspectives on cycling: historical objects and clothing sit alongside archive images and portraits. Visiting hours for the Musée du Vélo are listed as June to September, daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., by reservation; confirm the opening hours before your visit.

The Maison de la Poupée houses a collection of 650 dolls from different eras. Unlike the Musée du Vélo, its focus is on dolls and their variety across time; the Musée du Vélo focuses on bicycles, equipment and archival material. If you include culture in your travel plans, you can choose according to the theme that interests you more, rather than treating the two collections as interchangeable stops.
