Dracy-lès-Couches lies in a valley shaped by vineyards and livestock farming. Winegrowing, château history and the Church of Saint-Maurice give the village its distinctive character; the Les Balcons de Dracy walking trail adds an outdoor activity. When planning your trip, you can give these highlights different priority depending on your interests.

Wineries and wine tastings

Domaine Demontmerot has been based in Dracy-lès-Couches for nine generations and grows Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The winery offers free wine tastings in its cellar year-round, but only by prior appointment. Confirm your appointment before travelling if you plan to go for a tasting.

Domaine Château Miraudet farms 16 hectares of vineyards and produces Mercurey rouge, Côtes du Couchois, Bourgogne Chardonnay, Bourgogne Aligoté, Coteau Bourguignon, Rosé and Crémant. After contacting the winery in advance, visitors are invited to a wine tasting with Georges Budin in a cellar. Domaine La Glycine Blanche also farms 16 hectares of vineyards; its wines are made using traditional methods.

The same vineyard area at Miraudet and La Glycine Blanche makes for a direct comparison of their size. The details highlight different aspects: Miraudet has a specific range of wines listed, while La Glycine Blanche is noted for its traditional production methods. Demontmerot adds two named grape varieties and a complimentary tasting by appointment to these profiles. This gives you the option of comparing the wineries by vineyard area, wine selection or tasting arrangements.

The château’s history through the centuries

The Château de Dracy was rebuilt in 1547 on the site of a fortress dating from 1298. Since 24 October 2016, the entire château estate has been listed as a historic monument, including the park, outbuildings and dovecote. The estate also includes an 80-metre-long winemaking building from the 18th century, built using the medieval castle wall.

The dates describe different stages: 1298 dates the fortress on the site, 1547 the rebuilding of the château, and 2016 the listing of the entire estate. The winemaking building adds a specific example of the château’s connection with wine production to its architectural history.

Saint-Maurice: a church built into the rock

The Church of Saint-Maurice is built directly into the rock and was rebuilt around 1715. It features 19th-century paintings, including a large blue vaulted ceiling that was restored in 2000. The construction, rebuilding and restoration refer to different aspects: the church is built into the rock, while the date 2000 refers to the vaulted ceiling.

Walking in Dracy-lès-Couches

The Les Balcons de Dracy walking trail starts and ends in Dracy-lès-Couches. The village is therefore both the starting point and the destination. For planning purposes, the walk differs from a wine tasting, which requires advance arrangements: you can treat the walk as a separate activity and the tasting as a visit that depends on an appointment.
