Explore Talensac through a range of highlights: hiking trails, a long-distance hiking stage, mountain biking and trail-running routes, and local heritage. Differences in duration and route type can help you make good use of your time. At Étang du Guern, you’ll also find a landscape that combines recreation with the history of a former sand quarry.

Choose Hiking Trails and Tours

The Circuit de l’étang de Carrouët n° 129 is an easy 6.5-kilometre hiking trail starting from Talensac; it takes approximately one hour and 30 minutes to walk. It begins on a cycle path and returns through a more densely wooded section of the Forêt de Montfort. Along with the approximate duration and distance, these trail features give you a concrete idea of the route.

The Circuit de Bransahier n° 114 takes approximately one hour and starts at Esplanade Eminescu, near Talensac cemetery. It follows forest paths and some stretches of road, and is accredited by the Fédération Française de Randonnée. It takes less time than the Carrouët trail, making it easier to weigh up a tour of about one hour against one of around an hour and a half. Check the latest route information and status before setting out.

If you’re planning a long-distance hiking stage, the GR 37 A runs through the municipality, and the stage between Montfort and Monterfil (La Bétangeais) is 16 kilometres long. For mountain bikers, Route No. 12 passes through Talensac. The Circuit trail n° 10 – Petit tour à l’ouest is a 35-kilometre trail-running route starting from Talensac. These options differ in route type and length; choose the kind of tour that suits your stay.

Check route information and trail conditions before setting out. The Pont de Coulande is currently unusable; check whether this is still the case before your tour.

Étang du Guern and Local Heritage

Étang du Guern is set within four hectares of wooded grounds. The pond was created in a former sand quarry. A path goes around it, and the grounds serve as a family walking area and a fitness trail for joggers and mountain bikers. Walkers and anglers can find shady, cool spots along the circular path. This makes the Étang a distinct highlight alongside the marked hiking and cycling routes.

The Grès Saint-Méen also tells part of Talensac’s story: the menhir is considered evidence that the municipality has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. A local legend is also associated with it. According to the legend, Saint Méen sharpened his axe on the menhir and then built the church of Talensac. Early settlement and the story of Saint Méen offer different perspectives on the area’s history.
