The Menhir du Champ Dolent stands at the entrance to Saint-M'Hervé and is 9.30 metres tall. The Menhir du Champ Dolent is a Styrofoam replica; the original is a real dolmen in Dol-de-Bretagne. After filming, the municipality of Saint-M'Hervé took over the menhir with the aim of displaying it at the entrance to the town. The landmark thus combines an archaeological connection to Dol-de-Bretagne with the history of the filming.

Saint-Éloi Church: construction history and architecture

The parish church of Saint-Éloi adds a clearly dated building phase to the picture of the town's history. It was rebuilt between 1845 and 1848 to plans by Rennes architect Jean-Marie Anger de la Loriais. On 2 August 1856, Mgr Brossay-Saint-Marc consecrated the church. Its features include an elongated floor plan, a false barrel vault, a bell-tower porch and a rounded apse.

Hiking trails and nature at Lac de la Haute-Vilaine

Lac de la Haute-Vilaine lies within the territories of Saint-M'Hervé, Bourgon and La Chapelle-Erbrée. A footbridge at the lake makes it possible to take two different hiking trails, each 7 kilometres long. Signs around the lake provide information about hiking trails and birdwatching. Alongside the route, an interest in birdlife can also be considered as a separate focus when planning your visit.

Sports and leisure at the leisure centre

The Base de loisirs de la Haute-Vilaine is open to the public year-round and offers sports and leisure activities. These include a multisport pitch, a beginner mountain-biking course, a technical mountain-biking course and an introduction to archery. Aventures Nautik at the base also offers an immersive experience combining play, nature and heritage. The base being open year-round does not mean that every individual activity is available at all times. Check the availability of the activities you wish to enjoy before travelling.

Farm visits and regional produce

La Ferme d'Hermeillon produces goat's cheese and sells organic meat from white pigs raised outdoors in western France. Educational farm tours are available by reservation as a self-guided visit, a guided visit or in the “Éleveur d'un jour” format. If you are planning a visit, take into account both the reservation and the format you prefer. Products for sale, visiting conditions and available formats may change; check in advance.

The “Visite d'une asinerie” activity in Saint-M'Hervé lasts one and a half hours. It includes discovering how donkeys are milked, trying it yourself and tasting fresh donkey's milk. As visiting conditions and availability may change, check the details before taking part.

Events throughout the year

The Comité des fêtes of Saint-M'Hervé plans Tartines d'Artistes every year on the first weekend of May and the Marché de l'Avent every year on the last Sunday in November. As specific event dates may change, check the dates before your trip.
