Lanrivoaré can be explored through a variety of interests: walking routes lead through the surrounding countryside, one named walking route is 10 km long, and historic sites offer a different focus. This gives you several ways to plan your stay, with outdoor activities, horse riding and local history as distinct options. You can shape your stay around whether you want to focus on a route on foot, a signposted horse-riding trail or specific historical landmarks.
Walking Routes and Horse-Riding Trail
The green paths of Lanrivoaré offer walks through the surrounding countryside. Some run alongside the Aber Ildut and the Frouden. If you like using waterways as a guide while walking, these two names give you a specific place to start. The Balade à Lanrivoaré is a 10 km walking route for exploring the local landscape. If you would like to include a route with a specified distance in your day’s plans, this trail gives you a clear framework. The route options answer different questions: the Balade is defined by its length, while the green paths offer walks through the countryside, in some places alongside the two waterways.
Circuit n°4 Lanrivoaré/Tréouergat is one of the six horse-riding trails offered by Pays d’Iroise Communauté. The trail is maintained and signposted. These are practical points of reference if horse riding is the focus of your stay; checking the latest route information before setting off is recommended.
Historic Sites
The Hermitage of Saint-Hervé has been classified as a historic monument since 1 July 1975. The site includes the ruins of a chapel, a holy spring and a stone hut. According to local tradition, the stone hut was the saint’s cell. On the way to the Hermitage of Saint-Hervé, walk 400 m to reach the calvary.
The Église Saint-Rivoaré has a cruciform ground plan. If you also look at churches for their architecture, this shape gives you a specific feature to focus on. A cruciform ground plan shows the layout of the church building when viewed from above; its architectural form can therefore be considered alongside the specific historical features of the other cultural sites.
At the Cimetière des Saints
You can reach the Cimetière des Saints from the large car park by walking through the municipal cemetery of Lanrivoaré. There is an engraved stele from the second Iron Age. Seven large pebbles are also arranged in a row, one of which is significantly larger than the others. This site offers two distinct details to observe: the stele, dated to the second Iron Age, and the row of pebbles, with its striking difference in size.
