With Château d’Adiac, Via Fluvia and the signposted short PR637 hiking trail, Beaulieu offers a range of landmarks to help you plan your trip. Architecture, cycling and hiking each provide a distinct focus. Details about the buildings and routes can help you choose the right focus for your stay.

Protected buildings in Beaulieu

Parts of Château d’Adiac are listed as a historic monument. These include the façades and roofs, a staircase with a wooden balustrade, a room on the first floor of the residential building and a vaulted room on the first floor of the keep, each with its furnishings. The protected areas therefore include both exterior features and furnished interiors.

By contrast, Eglise Notre-Dame de l’Assomption has been fully classified as a historic monument since 4 May 1910. Selected parts of the château are protected, while the entire church is protected. This difference in scope gives each building its own architectural point of interest.

Pont suspendu de Margeaix is another protected structure. Since 7 February 1994, the historic monument designation has covered the entire suspension bridge, including the keeper’s house. The bridge is associated with both Beaulieu and Saint-Vincent. This adds another structure, connected with two places, to the château and church.

Via Fluvia and a short hike

Via Fluvia passes through Beaulieu towards Rosières and connects the Loire and Rhône rivers as a cycle route. In Beaulieu, it crosses the Suissesse on a 36-metre footbridge. After the crossing, the route follows the former La Galoche railway line. The river crossing and the former railway track are the specific features identified for this section.

Another hiking option is the signposted short PR637 Mont Recours et côtes de la Loire trail, which starts in Beaulieu. This offers a choice between two different types of route: Via Fluvia is a cycle route connecting the Loire and Rhône rivers, while PR637 is a short, signposted hiking trail starting in Beaulieu. Which option better suits your plans depends on whether you would prefer to focus on cycling or hiking.

More things to consider for your stay

Beaulieu is also home to the Tir Sportif Beaulieu Emblavez sports shooting centre. La Galoche restaurant serves generous family-style dishes, pizzas and other house specialities. Check before visiting to confirm that its offerings are still current.

Étang de la Plaine is located within the municipality of Beaulieu, but depending on your chosen access point, it may be easier to reach from Rosières. When planning, it is therefore worth considering this access information alongside the place you wish to visit.

If you are looking for a holiday rental for a stay in Beaulieu, you can tailor your trip to these different interests: protected architecture, Via Fluvia, the short hiking trail or other local attractions. This lets you choose a destination based on your group’s interests without combining cycling and hiking into a single itinerary.
