Le Rouget combines paths around the Moulin du Teil pond with a Sunday market held year-round and the art of the Sainte-Thérèse Church. This offers several ways to shape your stay: a walk, hiking or mountain biking routes, swimming lessons, and local architectural and art history. You can decide which of these themes will define your stay by looking at the specific route layouts, class times and weekly market day.
Pond paths and routes
The marked footpath around the Moulin du Teil pond provides a clear point of reference: the loop around the water is 1.7 kilometres long. The BR®-13 trail also runs alongside the pond, but along a narrow paved path. The loop offers a specific distance to plan for; the narrow paved section beside the pond gives the BR®-13 trail its character. The site includes a fishing pond, as well as a children's playground.
Both the activity and the views can help you choose. The Ronde en Ségala mountain biking route starts at the Moulin du Teil pond; its first section already offers views of Le Rouget and the Cantal Mountains. The Lascombes-Basses hiking route starts at the pond car park and offers views of Le Rouget and the Cantal Mountains to the northeast. The Circuit du Lac also starts at the car park by the pond. Lascombes-Basses offers views to the northeast; on Ronde en Ségala, views of Le Rouget and the Cantal Mountains appear in the first section.
Swimming and water aerobics
Piscine du Rouget offers water aerobics classes on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:15 to 8:00 p.m., with no registration required. Swimming lessons are also available; anyone interested should contact the lifeguard directly. These are two different options to consider when planning your day: water aerobics takes place on set days, while the next step for swimming lessons is to contact the lifeguard directly.
Sunday market
The weekly market is held year-round every Sunday at Place de la Mairie in Le Rouget-Pers. Cheese and other food products are on offer. For travellers planning a market visit, Sunday is a fixed point in the schedule; the food on offer also gives the occasion a culinary focus.
Sainte-Thérèse Church
Sainte-Thérèse Church was built in the mid-20th century and solemnly consecrated in 1962. Its stained-glass windows, inspired by the language of flowers, were created by local artist Jean Labellie. The construction period and year of consecration provide the historical context; the windows add a distinctive artistic touch with their floral theme. For travellers who want to include culture alongside scenery and outdoor activities when choosing where to go, Sainte-Thérèse is one of Le Rouget's specific cultural highlights.
Dates for your stay
The market and water aerobics can be compared directly when choosing dates: the weekly market takes place on Sundays year-round, while water aerobics is held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:15 to 8:00 p.m. If you want one of these events to shape your stay, plan your travel dates accordingly.
