Colayrac-Saint-Cirq combines a circular trail along the Garonne with a hill route, craft workshops and a summer music series. This offers different ways to shape a stay: spend time outdoors, try your hand at crafts or enjoy culture by the river. A specific duration is given for the Garonne circular trail; other interests lead to the landscapes of the Agenais hills, the church of Sainte-Julitte or seasonal events.

Circular trails and landscapes

The circular trail “Colayrac-Saint-Cirq, a ride along the Garonne” takes 2 hours and 45 minutes on foot, or 1 hour by mountain bike. This comparison gives a clear idea of the time needed for two ways of getting around and helps you choose the trail to fit your day. Another route, “Colayrac-Saint-Cirq, a walk in the Agenais hills,” stands out for its sweeping panoramas and shaded paths. The comparison therefore focuses on the time needed for walking and mountain biking for one route, and on the described scenery for the hill route.

Colayrac-Saint-Cirq’s landscape is shaped by the contrast between dry and wet areas. The landscape features mentioned there include dry grassland with notable orchids, as well as wet, bocage-style meadows with botanical potential. There are also natural woodlands, numerous springs and relatively poor grassland.

Crafts and summer music

At the Pôle d’artisanat d’art in the former school in Corne, visitors can try their hand at stained glass, pottery, leatherwork using recycled bicycle inner tubes and basket weaving in courses and workshops. The range spans working with glass and clay, repurposed materials and woven crafts. If you’re planning a hands-on creative activity, check the availability of courses before your visit.

JEUDînes en Musique is a summer music series at the Théâtre de Verdure on the banks of the Garonne. The 2024 municipal bulletin describes concerts every Thursday in July and August. Check the dates for your intended travel year if you’d like to include the music series in your plans. At one 2024 edition, around 15 gourmet food stalls run by local vendors offered a wide selection of menus. The number of stalls may vary from year to year; the combination of concerts and food stalls makes the program both a cultural and culinary highlight.

Church of Sainte-Julitte in Saint-Cirq

The church of Sainte-Julitte also offers a tangible link to the history and architecture of the place. It was built on the foundations of an earlier priory. The current bell-gable, also called a clocher-mur, dates from 1847 and has two paired round-arched openings for the bells. The church was restored between 2000 and 2007. Looking at the building, you can distinguish its earlier religious foundations, the dated form of the bell-gable and a later phase of restoration.
