In Soorts-Hossegor, you can make nature watching, exercise, architectural history and regional products different focal points of your trip. Les Barthes and Lac marin d’Hossegor represent different aspects of nature, while a cycling route, golf course, historic buildings and market add to the range of things to see and do. When choosing a hotel, it is worth first considering which of these interests matter to you. This lets you tailor your stay to your own preferences.
Nature and Birdlife
Les Barthes is a rare, protected wetland ecosystem covering 50 hectares. It is home to numerous birds, insects and butterflies, as well as lush flora. A restored, accessible promenade is 3.7 kilometres long. Maintenance work or environmental conditions may affect its infrastructure, so check the condition of the path before your visit.
Lac marin d’Hossegor, covering 99 hectares, is described as a nature reserve. Its ecosystem includes marine plants, shellfish and crustaceans, fish, and numerous bird species. This gives you two different aspects of nature to choose from: the wetland with its diverse flora and insect life, and the lake’s ecosystem.
Walks, Cycling Route and Golf
During a walk of about two hours around Lac marin d’Hossegor, you can observe and identify seasonal bird species and learn about the ecology of the species found there. Check in advance whether the walk is available on your chosen date and how it is organised. The approximate duration is provided to help you plan, while a route length is given for the promenade.
The official Hossegor–Seignosse cycling loop is 21 kilometres long. Route conditions, signage and downloadable tracks may change, so check them before setting off. The distance is a route measurement, not a journey time. Golf d’Hossegor has an 18-hole course integrated into the landscape. The cycling route and golf course offer different kinds of sporting activity: a loop of a specific distance in one case, and a course set within the landscape in the other.
Architectural History and Art Deco
Ferme de Bielle was built in the 14th century. The municipality maintains it to preserve a typical example of a Landes farmhouse from that period. Sporting Casino represents a later era: the building dates from the 1930s and is a symbol of the Art Deco style. Together, these buildings span the period from a 14th-century farmhouse to 1930s architecture. Access to Sporting Casino may depend on its current use; check before planning a visit.
Oysters and the Market
At the oyster-farming huts in Soorts-Hossegor near Plage du Rey, you can buy or sample oysters while looking out over the lake. Check access and opening arrangements before visiting.
In Bourg de Soorts, the Marché de Producteurs 2026 takes place every Saturday morning from 18 July to 26 December. The selection includes, among other things, fruit and vegetables, artisan cheeses, cured meats, poultry, traditional bread, honey, jams and local drinks. Check the event date before you travel. The market offers a wide range of products, while the oyster-farming huts focus on buying or sampling oysters.
